I personally do not. I like the regional rivalries. I like the fact that the way an athlete gets paid is by scholarship. People who are not athletes usually pays the bills. I do not want an NFL junior by having all good teams in one conference. Am I the only one who feels this way?

I wish the NCAA was in charge of conference realignment instead of the conference commissioners. Then we would get to keep all of the geographic rivalries and do what is best for the fans.

Overall? Definitely not.

I am ok with players using their own name and image for their own financial benefits. I know the reasons against it but I think they should have a right to their own name and such to make money apart from their scholarships. Really it was going on behind the scenes anyway it seems.

But as for the transfer portal and super-conferences, I hate where were going. Players move around a lot instead of creating an identity with schools. I see a lot of traditions of college football being eroded away. Regional rivalries are being left behind in the search for money. It's great for South Carolina to play Texas, but is there really any connection between them to warrant a conference together? It should be a fun OOC game. I think college football is losing its magic and charm. I see the same thing happening in European football. Power and money is concentrated in a few leagues and already the teams at the top of those leagues tried to pull away and do a super-league.

The move of Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC might be the domino for bigger changes down the road. But if we just consider that move it finally brought Texas and Texas A&M, the two biggest schools in the second most populous state back together into the same conference. So rather than break up regional rivalries, this one actually reunited one (broke up another but one less important in terms of population).

No. Getting more and more expensive. Loud piped in music so you can't talk to the people you are with. Too commercialized. Like the time they put a BMW on the field at DKR Memorial Stadium.
Million dollars for a player who never started a game??? Athletes are becoming less and less like students. Many of the old rules treated them as having less rights than students, but they got breaks in other ways.

And all the while, they keep cutting sports that are played by actual students and raising fees on actual students.

Rivalries are going away. Power is concentrated more than ever. That has a lot to do with the commercialization. In pretty much every industry, the strong are getting stronger, the tiny specialty shops are doing well and the middle is getting crushed.
