Big 12 accuses ESPN of promising a large contract to AAC if they raid Big 12
"Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby alleges conference media rights partner ESPN conspired to damage the league by luring Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC as detailed in a cease and desist letter sent to the network on Wednesday. Bowlsby also tells CBS Sports that ESPN has actively engaged the American Athletic Conference (AAC) to pursue "3-5" Big 12 members join the league, suggesting it would be rewarded with "future television proceeds".

Question is, can ESPN get in trouble for this sort of tampering? What would the ramifications be if they are caught with their hand in the cookie jar?

What do you think happened with the Big East lol? Or more to the point, what do you think would have happened with the B12 starting expansion talks now? They would have worked with their TV partner to price content.

ESPN is merely working with partner networks to help them figure out how they may want to expand and what the value of that expansion might mean for them.

Really, the Big 12 was hoping to work with ESPN to do the exact same thing to US. Aresco just drank their milk shake and now they’re firing off whiny Cease and Desist letters. ESPN DGAF about that letter and probably couldn’t stop laughing when they received it.

They might get a visit from the SEC (Security and Exchange Commission) before this is all over. AAC needs to be careful.

Unreliable, but it has SMU at #42 and Tulane at #46. Big XII (not Texas or OU) have none in the Top 50.

UT-Austin is at #15 (!)

On the WVU Big 12 board a poster is claiming ESPN is willing to up the ante in a huge way to bring in 5 schools to AAC. He is claiming ACC money to make it happen (I don't even believe that). Claiming ESPN wants to make AAC the 5th power conf to replace Big 12.

I mean if that were true I am not sure what those 3-5 Big 12 schools are waiting on as that is way more than what they will get if they stick around once exit fees dry up. Would be quite the coup by the American and depending on the 5 would be a very good conference.

This doesnt take a top ten law school to figure out.

If you have evidence you keep your mouth shut and file a lawsuit, not write some feelings hurt letter.

Tortious interference? He better have it or he is stepping in it big time. I cant imagine it's easy to prove

Sounds like a big temper tantrum to me.
________

Fun times.

04-cheers

Ok read up on tortious interference. Bowlsby is a clown. No way they can unravel what is going on to prove it.

Remember the big 12 extorted ESPN for $10-20 million with the previous expansion show.
