In the past, a predictable outcome would have been for the remaining Big 12 teams to poach some of the best teams from the American -- Cincinnati, Memphis, Houston, SMU, UCF and South Florida. But the Big 12's standing has been weakened so much, it might end up being the other way around.
Sources have told ESPN that the American Athletic Conference would consider expansion to 14 or 16 teams, and Big 12 teams would be considered. The plan is to be aggressive, and the roles have seemingly reversed from the last expansion discussion when the Big 12 was looking to add teams. This time, it's the Big 12 that should be concerned about the AAC poaching its teams -- not the other way around.
Typical ESPN, overselling their property. The AAC has zero chance of successfully luring a Big 12 member. If they TRY, the Big 12 is just taking Houston and Cincinnati, minimum.
ESPN did the same thing when the Big East split... the American were the "winners" and the Catholic schools were the "losers" in all their reporting. They framed it that way because the New Big East signed with FOX, and ESPN still had it's deals with the football group.
Even though the American got such a terrible TV deal that UConn decided it could make more money in the Big East and selling their football team that's 9-39 in the last five years as an independent.
You say you root for chaos yet you don't want the funniest thing in history to happen. Poser.
And UConn didn't leave because of the TV deal, they left because they got sentimental and missed playing Seton Hall and Providence or whoever.
Id like to believe we played some small role in ridding the conference of the uconn vermin.

Amazing teams that proved we were for real, and Ferguson may be my favorite Tiger QB of the decade despite Lynch being a 1st Rounder who led us to a top 25 finish and White getting us to the Cotton Bowl.
