Yeah, KD and Holiday have been thge best two players for us this tournament. I don't think there's any argument against that. I will say Lavine and Booker were huge on defense during the run where the US basically went from being down 15 to up 15 in a span of a quarter. Slow starts still concern me. IMO the issue causing those is Dame. Feels like KD tries to let him get into a rhythm early and for whatever reason it just hasn't been working. If he's not hitting on offense, he's a huge liability on defense. Doubt it happens but I'd like to see him replaced in the starting lineup with Lavine.

I'm pretty excited about LaVine's growth the past two years, and he's been really solid for the US. As a Bulls fan, I'm generally pretty happy with professional basketball this week.

As you should be. Thought they got a fair price on Ball. Pairing him with Lavine and Vuc makes a lot of sense. A slight overpay for Derozan IMO, but he's still a high level scorer in the mid range and usually doesn't miss many games.

Sorry, but I still don't think a backcourt of Ball and LaVine is enough to move the needle in the EC. They're both poor shooters and that puts too much pressure on their frontcourt players to make shots.

I don't think LaVine is a poor shooter and Ball shot 40% last year when spotting up. In terms of moving the needle, it depends on your definition. Can they compete with the Nets, Sixer or Bucks? Obviously no, but I think it makes them a playoff team with a ceiling of 4th-6th in the East. My excitement isn't that they're now contenders, but the perception of the Bulls changed this offseason.

Lavine was a solid shooter from 3 last season. Streaky at times but not poor. Ball's shot is much improved from what it once was and he'll be a great addition on defense. Derozan is really my only issue with what they've done. He can score but there's no way to sugarcoat his defense, it's bad.

Bricks I think the way you took it and what I meant are different. I think today’s “style” is garbage.

GOLD! KD cements himself as the best Olympian basketball player ever. Jayson Tatum was everything you needed him to be. Jrue Holiday the unsung hero. Very proud of how they represented this country.

Yep, he has. MJ and others had more players step up around them and didn’t need to hang 20+ every time out like KD has had to do. Don’t really understand why J Tate didn’t get more PT he was clearly the most consistent contributor not named KD for the tourney. Glad to see they bounced back and won the gold

I actually found myself nervous during the game. Proud as well.

Another scar on Lebron's legacy. I'm sure he was hoping they would lose without him.

IMO, there really is no debate that MJ is the GOAT, but the Olympic games had no impact on LeBron's legacy as far as I can tell. I'd rather give credit to the guys that put in the work than criticize a 36 year-old for not playing.

Have to disagree. All they've talked about is KD and how his accomplishments in the Olympics have enhanced his legacy. And he didn't even do it for that reason. LeBron has done nothing but make decisions solely to build his legacy. And a number of those decisions have backfired. If we had not won the gold, it would have been all about LeBron not being there to carry the team to victory.

You seem to be suggesting that LeBron didn’t play in a calculated attempt to boost his reputation by his absence. Not sure if that is what you’re saying, or if you think KD enhancing his legacy somehow diminishes LeBron.

In terms of LeBron not being there, he’s 36 and coming off of the most substantial injury of his career. He also was absent in Rio; I just don’t see how Tokoyo has any impact on his legacy.

He whined about playing in a bubble. He whined about only getting 3-4 months off from a "job". He has a history of quitting in games, but brags about having to carry stacked teams on his shoulders. He has "The Chosen One" tattooed across his back. He is a great player, but also a great manipulator. Larry Bird played for his country at an older age, with a bad back, and never whined about it. LeBron may be 36, but he had plenty of time sitting out games with injuries that greats like Bird, Jordan, Kobe and Unseld easily played thru. And yes, I do believe he would have used a loss without him to promote himself.

Feels like there’s nothing LeBron can do that would change your mind. I think he deserves some of the criticism he receives, but I don’t understand getting upset about what you think he would’ve done had Team USA lost.

Really cool to see the USA to come back on the final day to take the overall gold medal championship. I really enjoyed watching the Olympics this year. I think the one result I’d change would be Olympic Gold in baseball.

Winning gold with a bunch of average at best minor leaguers was always a tall task. Only using players not on a 40 man roster we were never going to have a great team or recognizable team. I thought they played extremely well and showed just how much talent is in the USA. Absolutely no shame in silver from them.

They have won the gold medal before with the same type of roster. And this roster had a few top prospects, so it's not average minor leaguers.

MLB isn't going to shut down the season for 3 weeks to have players leave for the Olympics, which is why the IOC keeps jerking around baseball. But it's stupid to leave it out because it's a summer sport, regardless what players play.

Top prospects are just that, prospects. They are not finished products or even major league ready, otherwise they would be on the 40 man roster (unless being time manipulated by the clubs). I agree from the MLB standpoint and it happens with other sports as well. The easy fix is keeping the olympics away from professional athletes and go back to 100% amatuer. However, with how long the MLB season is, it would be a great opportunity to shorten the number of games permanently while keeping a similar span of the season and use much of the break during olympic years to allow players to go play if they wish. Manipulating the schedule to shorten the season is fairly simple. Funny how the rest of the world has figured out shut down periods for big events and US sports continue to ignore that model

That's not going to happen again, so you might as well not bring it up.

The IOC isn't returning to amateurism.

The US Team got shut out by a good pitcher in a winner-take-all game. If they won I'm sure you wouldn't question their roster so much.

They were good enough to win the gold.

I actually would have. I looked at the roster before a single pitch and doubted our ability to win gold. I was actually impressed by their play. I didnt think they would be able to beat Japan or Korea and figured the Domincan Republic would have been a better squad than they showed to be. I felt like we overperformed, which is of course credit to those players.

I wasn't disappointed in their performance, I simply meant that I was pulling hard for them to win gold.
