Quote:University of Georgia officials have chosen Western Kentucky's Dennis Felton as the school's new men's basketball coach, sources close to the search said Tuesday.
Felton's hiring will be announced within the next day or two. He replaces Jim Harrick, who resigned two weeks ago amid an investigation in the program.
Georgia athletics director Vince Dooley chose Felton over former Chicago Bulls coach Tim Floyd on Monday morning. Dooley, who attended last night's national championship game between Syracuse and Kansas in New Orleans, was returning to Athens on Tuesday afternoon and was unavailable for comment.
Felton, 39, has led the Hilltoppers to each of the last three NCAA tournaments. He has a 90-54 record in five seasons at the school and also was an assistant at Deleware, Tulane, St. Joe's, Providence and Clemson. A native of Clinton, Md., Felton is a 1985 graduate of Howard University.
