South Endzone Field Club
Here's the email that many of us likely received. Interested in what other's think of this.

Eastern Football Family,
As you prepare for your 2021 return to Rynearson Stadium, Eastern Athletics is excited to introduce the NEW South Endzone Field Club! From this exclusive on-field area, you can cheer on Eastern Football while enjoying tailgate games, food & beverage sales, TVs showing games from around the country, and MORE!
Access to the South Endzone Field Club is a $25 add-on per game and is available for the first four Eastern Football home games. Space within the Field Club is limited, but as a paid Season Ticket Holder for the 2021 season, you have priority access to upgrade now and lock in your spot before the general public.
To add the South Endzone Field Club to your 2021 game day experience, click the button below or call the Ticket Office at 734.487.3669. Once you have logged into your EMU Athletics Ticket Account at the link below, the Aug. 2 on-sale date will be removed, allowing you priority access to purchase your Field Club tickets!

RE: South Endzone Field Club
Watching a game from field level sucks, particularly at one end of the field. At least half the game will be moving away from you, and will be too far away to really see what's going on. I much prefer watching from the stands.

Amen.

It is good marketing. Good atmosphere. Good this and that, but not a good location to watch a game, as you indicate.

Would at least need some good temporary bleachers.

EDIT: I remember watching a Howard game with Caylon Newton (2017?) which was jammed packed (their stadium is smallish). They had temporary bleachers in each end zone. One had the band.

As both posters indicate, it wouldn't be my first choice but it can be done, even in a stadium, like EMU's, Howard's, etc. with a track.

That said, the 50 yard is as good as perfect gets in football. Say 10 - 20 rows up?

BTW, I hope Howard brings their band in 2023. Howard --> EMU is 500+ miles. Load up the bus with the band. Nice way to spend a Friday (?). I prefer flying though. :)

I am a season ticket holder and haven't gotten this email. I would not be interested. We have great seats to watch the game.

South Endzone Field Club
I like the concept. Something needs to be on the field behind that end zone. I don't like the idea of having to pay extra for it though. I think they should simply put the beer truck area on the field rather than on the concourse. On the concourse it is just way too far from the field. Temporary bleachers would also be nice. I would enjoy a cold beverage there and maybe watch a quarter but I don't want to spend the entire game there.

Does this mean the scissor lift for the camera will be moved out of the south end zone? Hard to believe they would let that remain in an area where people will be.

I saw a photo of Rynearson for T&F. Apparently MAC championship or something.
They have canopies actually on the field (instead of end zone).

Canopies would work well for selling beer, setting up televisions, selling hot dogs, etc.

This is Google maps. May need to scroll down to find a good image.

BTW, these photo are apparently from the 2017 Jr. AAUs (T&F). I can see the markings.

Ain't that the truth! Then again, at least the EMU athletics department is trying something new instead of sitting still. Nickle, '79, you and me are unanimous in our disapproval but others... Who knows?

It just is nothing that I would be interested in for sure!

I dont disagree with the concept, just the details. Paying an extra $25 to not be able to see the game very well doesn't sound like a great idea.

"tailgate games, food & beverage sales, TVs showing games from around the country, and more" is too complicated. Sounds like that $25 does not include beer and food. And who wants to play cornhole during the fb game? When I'm at the game I like to watch the game. I cant see there being too many people wanting to do this.

Just stick a beer tent there and put in some temporary bleachers with no added fee to visit the area. Done.

I'm a big DCFC fan and they have similar seats set up that are in shipping containers and like box seats.

Cid, I think you're missing the point. First off, you're a dad, you are not going to miss a second of your son on the field and I get that. I'm with you. For others, I think it is a great idea making the game experience a fun and hopefully rowdy event. I personally would love to check it out!

I'm with DP and BobW on this.

I have NO IDEA how it will be set up so they can provide a great game day experience.

As indicated, a GREAT game day experience can be a good view of the game, beer, hot dogs, etc.

I wish I were an architect and could design some type of portable stands which might be 10 feet high, with seats, room to stand, beer and hot dogs at the back, etc. and with a canopy. yet be 100% safe.

If I could I'd apply for a patent too.

P.S. to DP. What you posted is what I'd expect. What I described is a pipe dream. It would be a real safety hazard unless they could design something better than what I'm describing.

I guess the biggest weakness for Rynearson - to me - is how dang big it is. Theres SOOOOOOO much space thats just wasted in that thing. It's good the schools is trying to generate some use out of that space - and i think with some creativity you can see some really great ideas. Maybe take some shipping containers and stack them as boxes and sell them like DCFC. push em back some space - have them on wheels so you can get them in and out easy. It just makes sense to me.

Dear Friends,
Why not locate the beer area to the tarped sections of the East stands? That would give those fans a better view of the game, and the beer could be set-up in the concourse under the stands.

Can we do both? Good idea too. Have it sponsored by a local bar--so much potential when you think outside the box.

I'd pay $50 to watch a game from the scissor lift.

I'd sell beer on both sides of the stadium. The prices on the visitor side would be more. 03-lmfao

First to Bob W...yes, as a dad I do want to see how the football action develops and not miss any of it if possible. I do appreciate the desire to make the atmosphere more entertaining for the general fan, but doing so from field level actually separates that fan from the game they are supposedly there to see. Consider also that for player safety, a field-level fan area would probably need to be at least 10 yards behind the backline of the endzone, possibly even further. So you're taking a group of fans who are already sacrificing line of sight by being level with the playing field, then moving them back 20 to 30 yards from the goal line. And they will probably be in a corner closer to the stands. At that point you almost have them on Oestrike.

But to Steve's point, if you were to elevate the area, you'd improve sightlines and probably be able to move the section closer to the field. At that point they'd be football fans again, and not just festival-goers.
