New Prez (potential)
Quote:Now, Fry, who became Drexel’s president in 2010, is publicly acknowledging for the first time that, although he hasn’t decided the exact timing, this could be his last full year at Drexel. He has two more years left on his contract.
“The art of this game is you don’t overstay your welcome,” he said. “I’m starting my 12th year. I’ll finish that out and who knows beyond that, but not a whole lot more. It’s time for the natural cycle of change.”

RE: New Prez (potential)
Yup saw it. Sort of like the AD for me. Its potentially exciting, but time will tell. It is interesting though that he just took on being the CAA representative with the NCAA. When we hired him many of us had hope he would be athletically focused based on his prior stops. He has not been anti sports, but mostly stayed out of it while he focused on expansion and business opportunities for Drexel. The campus has been completely overhauled under his leadership. I am too far removed as a student to really know how life at Drexel is these days, to know if all of his upgrades truly added to the student experience at all.
In fact I have not even been back to really see any of the changes in person. Last time I visited Drexel construction was under way on the market street corner. And it was dark as I was walking to and from the game at UPenn (2013 or 2014 maybe?) after a meal with others at landmark. The NCAAT game was literally my first Spiker game. When it comes to a president there is a lot different criteria than an AD. You definitely want them to want athletic success and allow the tools and money to make it a success, but you also want the university to grow strategically and keep all of our degrees as meaningful. Continue to grow where it makes sense and continue to improve the university as a whole.

I am sure because of the pandemic past 2 years have been intense. It is nice to get someone new... assuming they are ambitious
