Chip is a useful idiot. Just like New York Times blindly repeat anything democratic leaders tell them , Chip does with anything he is told. All this means is someone at UT wanted him to say this. Doesn’t mean it’s true. But there sure is a lot of smoke for a mere feeling out process.

Yep. If Chip Brown said it, UT wants it to be said.

UT and OU are going somewhere. Probably the SEC. But as we've learned in the past, nothing is done until the contracts are signed and the logos on the uniforms and the fields are changed.

Chip was the one who said they were staying in Big 12 when ESPN was blasting PAC 16 on their BottomLine.

If he is reporting it that is likely what is going to happen in the world of Texas

Still curious, who were the powers that be at UT and OU that began discussions with the SEC? Were ADs involved? Or was it higher at the Presidential level?

Prominent Big 12 source tells the American-Statesman the Texas-OU move to the SEC is almost done. "They've been working on this for a minimum of 6 months, and the A&M leadership was left out of discussions and wasn't told about it." Move could become official in a week.

Smart move keeping A&M in the dark. That should tell you everything you need to know about what The SEC thinks of A&M’s objections.

So looks like A&M will really be voting against it. Will this cause any long-term friction between them and the conference?

Duke voting no Louisville on a first ballot hasn’t appeared to affect conference relationships. Any issues Texas and A&M have between them are probably bigger than a conference membership vote.

But Duke didn’t run away from Louisville from another conference nor they were kept out of the loop in expansion. That’s like keeping Duke out because the favored UConn just to appease Clemson and Florida State who favored Louisville.
