Dixie State release on WAC football media day.

Quote:After an eight-year hiatus from college football, the Western Athletic Conference is returning to the gridiron at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level in 2021. The WAC will officially kick-off its return with the conference's Annual Football Preview on Wednesday, July 28, at The Woodlands, Texas, just north of Houston.

Head coaches and student-athletes from all six WAC schools will meet at The Woodlands Marriott for a full day of activity, which will be split into two sessions. WAC newcomer Abilene Christian, Dixie State and Tarleton State will take part in the morning session, while conference newcomers Lamar, defending 2020-21 FCS champion Sam Houston, and Stephen F. Austin will make up the afternoon session.

In addition to a live press conference, which will be streamed live on the WAC Digital Network (WDN), coaches and student-athletes will participate in one-on-one interviews, along with other activities. There will also be a virtual press conference with each of the head coaches.

Quote:DENVER – With college football returning to the Western Athletic Conference for the first time since 2012, defending national champion Sam Houston is the favorite to win the 2021 WAC title while Bearkats quarterback Eric Schmid and defensive lineman Jahari Kay were selected WAC Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, in a vote of the league's six head coaches, who could not vote for their own team or players.

Schmid led the Preseason All-WAC Offense and is joined by teammates Ramon Jefferson, Jequez Ezzard, Isaac Schley, Eleasah Anderson, Prince Pines and Colby Thomas. Stephen F. Austin was represented by Xavier Gipson and Zach Ingram while Tarleton earned honors from Tariq Bitson and Zachary Perry. Dixie State running back Quali Conley earned the final offensive spot.

Why isn’t Dixie listed in the poll?

Why isn’t Dixie listed in the poll?

It might be because of this.

Quote:Dixie State, who will be eligible for all individual awards, will not be playing a full WAC schedule due to previous non-conference game contracts.

Anyone else think the Tarleton coach might be the least charismatic and confident sounding coach you've ever listened to? I mean obviously hes a competent dude but I guess he's trying to fly under the radar and catch some of yall by surprise lol. Had some gems for quotes though.

Tarleton's head football coach is Sam Houston's former head coach (just prior to Willie Fritz & the program taking off). This is his third tenure at Tarleton and for what it's worth, he has a pretty sterling record against Stephen F Austin - his alma mater, where he was a record-setting QB (prior to whatever damage Jeremy Moses did there).

Think his personality is boring, dull and meh? Just wait ‘til you see the product he puts on the field.

At least he could beat D2 schools at SHSU. He can’t even do that anymore. Might be time to hang up the headset Todd!

After I heard him speak for the first time, I thought our recruiting was in trouble. This dude can recruit and the team will play with a swagger and an attitude. It isn’t over the line, but the attitude will bump up against the line. We recruit from all over the country and all kind of kids.

Based on some of the pics I have seen, is SFA changing their helmet design for the upcoming year?
