I don't think CUSA adds anyone, we're already at 14. UAB could go to AAC and UTEP or UTSA could go to MW.

That article explains that there is no legal ties. Has nothing to do with political pressure.

It says Oklahoma will be in the SEC without Oklahoma St. The Governor can restrict funds to OU but he may also be a huge OU fan and do nothing. The only way OU and Texas don't move to the SEC is if they don't get enough votes by the SEC schools. The Big 12 is doomed.

Oklahoma governor, Kevin Stitt, is a Oklahoma State grad. I do not believe he will exactly give the Sooners a seal of approval to jump ship to the SEC without a fight.

What about the Big Wigs that donate to his campaign?

And…

Marshall is the DI Men's College Cup National Champions. And will be the Defending National Champs come Aug 26th. And CUSA is a top soccer conference (Multiple bids per year, multiple Top 25s per year, 3 college cup finalist, 1 national championship) and will only get stronger come next year.

With Marshall just winning the title it would be really hard for them to tell us to find a new home though if something like that were to happen.

I would venture to say that our national champion soccer program could find another home pretty easy. CUSA may let us keep our program in the league like WVU and UK are.

Even at that, we need to be placing our football program in the best position possible. Until soccer can put 30K people in the stands like our football team can then our football team will drive the boat.

Can you say that you would not like being in a football league with App State, Georgia Southern, Louisiana, Southern Miss, and UAB? Versus FIU, FAU, USTA. and ODU. This will be the last conference shake up for the foreseeable future. If Marshall doesn’t align with ESPN and the best of the rest right now then the football program will die a slow death.

Men’s soccer isn’t going to be in the top ten items considered for any party in the next round of alignment.

App was division 1-A for about six years in the mid-70s until 1-AA was formed. Is history repeating itself?

If Kansas goes, that takes the B1G to 15, they’d probably want another to get to 16.

I’ve even heard rumors of the B1G calling Missouri to get them from the SEC.

Oklahoma State would probably love this because I can imagine they would be high in the running to be team 16 for the SEC in that scenario and that’s probably more desirable than the PAC12.

There is a ton of uncertainty in college athletics at this time. But one thing that is certain and rock solid is that soccer will not drive the bus or have any significant influance in any conference realignment!

LOL, yea, I was about to say that UT & OU is heading to the SEC because of their prestegist soccer league.

I'm sorry, but I discredit anyone who argues communist kickball as a reason for conference alignment. Football is THE driving force behind everything with only basketball and maybe baseball as a 2ndary argument to support the football decision at best. All other sports aren't even worth mentioning.

Like I said on the CUSA board, that soccer would be back in business in the SBC. Marshall, UAB, CCU, GS, and GSU. And if WVU does get involved with the ACC or AAC their soccer would go there and out of the CUSA. UK probably would move without WVU and Marshall.

Mention hockey. In the northern states it's not unusual at all for hockey to pack 30,000+ into their dome stadiums, rivaling football attendance and destroying hoops attendance in many cases. In some cases it's even the dealmaker/dealbreaker in realignment issues.

Not in FBS conferences it isn’t.

I’m just wondering when schools decide the MVC/MVFC has it right and removes football from the normal conferences and only football teams band together. That would drop schools like Vandy out of SEC football makeup.

Generally speaking, no - you're correct, but when the B10 is mentioned, it's at least a some-degree consideration since the B10 is a power in D-I hockey and they'll certainly not be making any realignment decisions threatening the hockey side of their athletics coffers in any way. Schools in that league commonly pack in 30-40k per game in D-I hockey. Having been raised in Alaska (2 D-I hockey schools), I've been to many sold-out games with scalpers out front selling tickets for profit and my guess is this often happens at B10 games too.

This is why I mentioned college hockey being at least a consideration in upcoming realignment possibilities. Also, I'm guessing the New WAC is considering hockey as well since some possible adds (i.e., D-I hockey power NSDU) pack in thousands and thousands as well. If I were the WAC dude-in-charge, I'd certainly be considering taking the B10 approach to bringing the WAC to hockey as well due to geography and demographics.

Just thinking and typing out loud.

I ran CUSA's TV numbers. They had 6 rated regular season games on TV. They averaged 566666 viewers per game.

If you take Marshall's 2 games out of the equation CUSA had 4 rated regular season TV games and averaged 292500 viewers per game.

I had a few beers while grilling dinner but it looks like almost 65% of CUSA's TV game viewership came from Marshall games.

Let's snag them
