No inside info, but I could fully see the Big 10 picking up someone like a Kansas and maybe Iowa state/Texas tech type school now to get to 16. [/u]

They had made a verbal agreement with former commish Mike Slive that Texas would not be invited without the Argues being okay with it. A&M left the Big 12 as did Colorado and Nebraska to get away from Texas domineering the conference with its sizable influence.
The SEC then went behind A&M's back and struck a deal with OU and Texas.
That is why A&M was the source of the leak... that's why they stated they wanted to be the ONLY school in the SEC from Texas.
The Board of Regents ORDERED the Texas A&M president to vote for inclusion.
Now I get it. You don't like Stammers, and Stammers doesn't like you.
I've been on the receiving end of Stammers' ire myself. It's not fun...it sucks.
But he was correct. A&M's president WANTED to reject Texas being included, there had been talks with other schools about a vote to block the measure... I was hearing Arkansas and Missouri...2 teams also in a conference with Texas who weren't fond of them.
Let it go man.
STAMMERS was INCORRECT----they voted in favor ---it doesn't matter the reason that he was wrong--it don't matter if they liked it or not---the fact is they voted YES
I do think STAMMERS was correct that some didn't really like it----but the facts are they voted yes------and REMEMBER STAMMERS only deals with facts
He said 'I can see', not 'I do see' - that is a far cry claiming it WILL happen., Just sayin'
True-true-----but by the same token he could have said ..." I can see TXAM and others voting yes-whether they like it or not".......just sayin

I disagree a bit here.
More trams provide insurance that if a couple of teams drop, we don't have to invite the dregs from CUSA, or the MWC conferences.

Yes, they were discussing expansion, but didn't identify any potential additions. Keep up the good work.
Better than telling everyone some BS about getting us getting in in 2016 until we don’t.
I’ll go out on a Canadian limb here:
The Tigers will be in an expanded Big 12.
The Tigers will be in expanded AAC.
The Tigers will be in a depleted AAC.
The Big 12 will merge with the MWC and the Tigers will be in an unchanged AAC.
That’s what my “sources” tell me.

Not knowing anything insidery, but reading between the lines of Memphis' response to the previous Big 12 expansion talk (not including ourselves in the list of 28 teams vying for Big 12 membership) and all the other discussion, I assume that we were very much in the mix. I assume that we were attached to Cincy (probably) and had gone through months of negotiations behind the scenes, much like OU and UT have done recently with the SEC.
I'm guessing that we were close to finalizing something that certain people at UT didn't like concerning us and they leaked it (maybe to Houston folks). Once the larger UT community got involved, public opinion killed it.
That's what A&M tried to do 2 weeks ago, but it was too late.

I agree with you in principle but most are predicting super conferences and the SEC move is the first in that direction.
It’s bad enough to be in a non P5, if you’re in a non P5 small conference while everyone else is a member of a super conference you are really going to come in on the short end of TV contract $.
We’re heading towards the US steel era of college football conferences.
Boise, San Diego State and BYU are not going to any P5 conference. They will always be available if the new Big 12 wants them or if anyone leaves. Let's see what the PAC12 and ACC do. IF there are going to be super conferences, then we are going to end up in the ACC. Maybe the Big Ten and PAC 12 will be stupid enough to want Kansas, Iowa State or Georgia Tech. The ACC sure isn't going to want Texas Tech, Kansas State, Baylor or TCU.
There is no point watering down the league with dead weight in the middle of nowhere. Aside from San Diego State, there is also ZERO recruiting at those schools.
Why do you think the ACC wants Memphis? I haven’t see any indications of that elsewhere. Just asking an honest question.
There have been a couple of national tweets along these lines. Also Ike has been saying it for awhile now, so...

Which current P5 teams did you leave out? There are already 65 P5 teams in place in the 5 conferences. So to "promote" Memphis, Cincy, BYU, Boise, etc., you must have "demoted" some existing P5s.

The Houston Chronicle is breaking the news because TAMU was leaking the stories to them. This has nothing to do with UH or Texas politics - or even better, what the B12 will do next.

I am still waiting on the next episode of TBP's biography.
Previously on, "The Life and Times of TB Pickens"...
Toni - who we thought was TBP's widow - was in fact dead herself.
But wait! She's not dead, but divorced.
Tune in to find out...Do the offspring ruin the family business and fortune? Are there even really any offspring?
My, how the wheels turn.
