RE: Flashes picked to win MAC East in football
Behind a pay wall here are some of the details.

"Lewis will be paid a base salary of $480,000 for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, then $500,000 for the 2024 and 2025 seasons plus the $50,000 annual supplemental."

"If Lewis leaves before January 31 of 2022 he must pay Kent State $800,000, a sum that is reduced $50,000 annually moving forward."

"one-time allocation of $125,000 to award his assistant coaches at his discretion. His assistant coaches salary pool will then be increased $15,000 annually during the remaining years of the contract."

"Beginning in 2022, the Flashes program will receive $50,000 for the first guarantee game each season, another $50,000 for the second, then $100,000 if a third Power 5 opponent is scheduled in a single season. The contract states that 75 percent of the total sum each season must be used for 'student-athlete facing projects.'"

Man, if all of these transfers pan out as expected, this team could be very good and deep this season. I can’t remember a season recent memory where I was more excited for the season to start.

I know most hate the current state of college sports with the transfer portal, but this coaching staff embraced it and obviously worked very hard in this “free agency” period to fill out the roster. Who knows how all of these transfers fit in and perform, but it looks like we added quite a bit of talent that should contribute.

When you run one of the most fast paced, productive offenses in the country, I imagine you're at the top of the list for offensive players looking to drop down a level to show what they can do.

I'm looking forward to tailgating with bacon and sausage before the home opener at 11:30.

CBS sports has Kent listed as having the toughest OOC schedule. They have Akron in the top five as well.

There was a scrimmage on Friday night at Dix Stadium. I didn't attend, but my friend said he was pleasantly surprised with the crowd that showed up.

Sounds promising for a night that was the first night of High School football as well.

Perhaps Kent State is turning the page on attendance.

I think there will be an increase in attendance the team is finally pre-season good for one of a handful of times in 50 years. People are also desperate for athletic events. Our HS games have been packed.

Kinda funny that the Tribe still cant bring fans out but I bet KSU football will have a nice attendance bump.

Just hope the 3 payday games don’t get us crushed early and lead people to go elsewhere for their entertainment thinking it’s the same old same old.

As excited as I am for this season, I'll be much more excited if we're heading into MAC play with all our key players intact.

I was at a barber shop where three UA players were at. They were telling me how they aren't looking forward to watching Dustin.

From what we have seen over the past few years is the strength and conditioning staff has the guys much better prepared than the past. From what I have read is that the players have individualized plans, as compared to a one size fits all approach.

With Nebraska losing yesterday Frost has to be on a short leash. Would Nebraska risk hiring another young head coach like Lewis?

Maybe, ilovegymnast, but I suspect that Lewis is going to be very careful about his next step. Nebraska was once a great program is a great Big 8 conference, but they have been a mediocrity in the Big Ten since 2012. Nebraska is one of those programs that time has passed by in the current big-time football world.

If Scott Frost can't get it done at NU, it's not going to be very appealing to anyone else.

Flashes set to make more money than any school in the nation for our 3 buy games. And I can assure you, our boys are headed to College Station with the intent and mindset to win that game. They don't feel overmatched and they don't have a woe-is-me attitude.

Can’t believe we’re paying VMI $415k??? They would barely get that much from a P5 program with a much larger crowd. Wyoming, Western Kentucky and South Alabama playing our peers on that same date and each only pulling $150k.
