I wish they would! This could be really fun & different since they're both winless and their battle on Saturday may determine who is the worst FBS team this year.

Sparty is on the road until October 30 (vs. Michigan)

Could see them going to East Lansing for the UMich/Sparty game w/ 2 undefeated's. I don't see any of their opponents as L's till that game, but that may be because I live in MI & am told they don't lose unless it's to each other or Ohio St.

Michigan is deeper than that - they don’t just think they’re better than you at sports, but that they’re actually better than you as *people* (see the obsession with hiring a “Michigan Man” as coach). They think they’re peers with Harvard academically on top of being a football power. That’s simply way more grating because it’s in your face in real life employment situations where Michigan alums are everywhere in places like NYC and Chicago.

Imagine a school with the elite private school attitude of Duke and Notre Dame, but it’s actually a huge public school with 40,000 students with tons of actual alums (not just T-shirt fans) in every major market in the country. That’s Michigan.
Good analysis. 04-cheers Their arrogance isn't just sports, it's everything.

They will probably be the only school this academic year to be able to boast that they have a Top 10 Football, Men’s Basketball and Hockey teams.

RE: 2021 ESPN College Gameday Season Thread
25 years ago today Lee Corso came up with an idea... announce a pick for the on site game by wearing the headgear of the team you are picking. It all started with Brutus the Buckeye. Unfortunately it was against my beloved Penn State and he was right to the tune 38-7. I was at Penn State at the time although I don't remember that specific game (probably selective memory).

https://twitter.com/CollegeGameDay/statu...1248992265

Here's some statistics for Corso's picks:

https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/artic...racks-them

Not counting 2021, he is 233-126, almost 65%. This season he is 5-0 (Georgia over Clemson, Iowa over Iowa State, Penn State over Auburn:), Notre Dame over Wisconsin, and Georgia over Arkansas).

That 1996 Ohio State team was a really, really good team. Probably the best in the country. They dominated almost everyone, save for getting tripped up 13-9 by their ancestral rival.

Better than the 2002 national champs. Probably the best Ohio State team between 1974 - 2014.

RE: 2021 ESPN College Gameday Season Thread
Cincinnati looks like a great choice for Gameday next Saturday after beating Temple last night. UCF is 2-2 with a home game vs. East Carolina today but they're a known team. ABC is hosting the game at noon on Saturday. ABC's other games next Saturday are Iowa playing a bad Purdue team (they could make up for screwing over them this week though and what if Iowa loses today which as a Penn State fan/alum I hope happens?), and either TCU-Oklahoma or Oklahoma State-Texas but we don't know whether ABC gets the winner or the loser of the game because we don't know whether ABC or FOX gets the first pick and Gameday would then be featuring the same team in back to back weeks. If Arkansas upsets Mississippi, their game vs. Auburn wouldn't be a bad game to feature as well but that would require ESPN to choose it over LSU/Florida or go to a CBS game.

I would think Gameday would want to go to at least one G5 game a season and this is as good a chance to go as any although SMU at Cincinnati on Nov. 20 could be a great game with both teams potentially still being unbeaten as well (SMU has to go to one loss Houston before then in a decent Gameday caliber game but that's the same week as Penn State-Ohio State on Oct. 30). Unfortunately for SMU, their only Saturday home games are Central Florida on Nov. 13 and Tulsa on Nov. 27 (Rivalry Weekend, they have no shot).

RE: 2021 ESPN College Gameday Season Thread
So much for Gameday going to Cincinnati. It's a repeat appearance in Athens for them. Well they and Kentucky are both undefeated and UGa is the new #1 in the coaches poll (and likely will be in the AP poll). But the game will be on CBS.

Cincinnati should hope they are still undefeated on Nov. 20 and SMU is still decent.

Oct. 23? Doesn't look like there are any decent games. Alabama (Tuscaloosa) might get it by default, especially if CBS passes on the game. Gameday hasn't been to Bama this year yet.

Corso finally got a headgear pick wrong.

Again, why you don't want to be the visiting team for College Gameday:

Dear Gameday, DON'T go to Ohio State on Oct. 30!

Then again, Georgia went after Alabama as well.

UCLA?

I think Gameday was just looking for some California sun. UCLA is not even going to be ranked.

Will more people watch Gameday than the game they are featuring? I'm sure it's happened before, Gameday has featured FCS games. But it would be funny if Gameday has more viewers than a 3:30pm ABC game.

Well first of all, next weekend is probably the weakest lineup of games of the entire season. There's not much competition in terms of an obvious big game.

And second, sure, there is some "diversity" being factored in. Gameday can't be at an SEC or B1G game every week, it makes sense to go out west and feature the PAC once a year. So this is a good week to do that.

I agree, the Gameday crew must have wanted to spend a weekend in LA. The students will need to get up early Saturday Morning for the Gameday activities and then hop on a bus for the 25 mile trip to the Rose Bowl to see the game. That will be a long day.

If the Dodgers make it to a game six in the NLCS, that game will be televised from Atlanta and will start in the middle of the Oregon-UCLA game. That will not help the ratings. The other games on at that time include LSU at Ole Miss on CBS, Oklahoma State at Iowa State on Fox, Clemson at Pitt on ESPN, and BYU at Washington State on FS1. A lot of good games to watch. I will be at the Rose Bowl for the game and I think attendance should be about 75,000 for this game.

I heard that Gameday Guest Picker tomorrow will be none other than Bill Walton.

That should be fun.

The Dodgers/Braves game time hinges on tonight. If Houston wins and series ends, Dodgers/Braves is 8pm et. If Houston loses and series goes to game 7, Dodgers/Braves is at 5pm et.

So it could work out perfectly for ABC.

Classic Big City vs. Small Town putdown:

Again, please don't go to Columbus next week (We know they are. BTW, I'm not posting anti-Penn State signs unless they really are funny. But I expect a "We're playing Penn State but Michigan still sucks". Hey, we did it!)

Hey wait, you're not supposed to slam your own team!

I had to look that one up. I remember when UCLA pounded my Illini 45-9. But the last time UCLA won the Rose Bowl was 1986 vs. Iowa.

It is Monday morning and College Gameday's Twitter feed has still not announced where they will be Saturday.

On the other hand, after two Saturdays in studio, FOX Big Noon Kickoff is heading to East Lansing for the first time this season.

[Image: FChRsrNUcAA8iYe?format=jpg&name=4096x4096]

I believe they've been to Madison twice (Sept. 4 and Oct. 2), Columbus (Sept. 11), Norman (Sept. 18), Chicago (Sept. 25), and Iowa City (Oct. 9). I assume they will be in Ann Arbor for Ohio State/Michigan on Nov. 27.

Too bad Penn State lost, otherwise they could plausibly do it from Columbus, as the PS vs OS game is on a Disney channel.

But now, East Lansing, a game airing on FOX, is the only obvious choice.

And it's not like Game Day eschews non-Disney aired games. E.g., last month they went to Chicago for ND vs Wisconsin, even though that was a FOX game.

So I think East Lansing it will be. We'll see.
