They played much better early in the season, their current trajectory does favor such. That said, they are indeed the best we got this year.

Very, very true. Akron is certainly nowhere near what Kent St was last year- on top of the lesser play towards the end of the season. They will likely be a 14 seed- and should be a 15, but the MAC usually gets a little bump with that respect. Not expecting a win, but you never know. And the MAC needs one this year more than most.
