Agree NO is all round better. But Ned is right about the game day food... I bet Yulman aint got no Turkey Legs!!!

The poll says "College Town Food Scene."

And you guys are assuming football stadium food. It doesn't even mention football or basketball. Or stadiums.

I think my argument would win in court, lol.

Good point. Is Memphis a "College Town"? I don't think so.

Depends on what you like and are used to...

Always thought NYC pizza was good because I had it all the time when I lived there...Now when I go back to NYC

It is out of this world.

I used to say how can you go back to bologna after you've had steak but now I can only afford bologna.

growing up in my little town
you could go down to the grocery store
and miss claire would make you a sandwich
that was white bread, a thick slice of hoop cheese,
a thick slice of bologna and mayo

it was the most beautiful thing in the world
after working in the cotton fields all day

that was a sandwich that would stick to the roof of your mouth
after each bite

Of course it's not. But many here on the Dockery forum still believe that the UofM is a life support system for the city.

Surprised you posted that.

Not in the traditional one-horse sense, but it makes a lot of “college town” lists. Probably due to the overall student population and being the home to over a dozen designated “colleges”. Many consider Pittsburgh a college town, but they really mean certain neighborhoods and districts.

Maybe it has to do with Bison, or steaks in general. I Don't know. Plus, Boise is a big town, sorta like Memphis. Maybe they have a really cool downtown foodie scene we just aren't familiar with. I sure would like to find out.

Boise is super “hip” and has been for several years. Houston is just a massive city - 2.3 million people in the city itself (not including surrounding area) so there’s bound to be some good food for a city of that size

Houston has a ton of great food!

I think of a "college town" as being one where the college is the driving force in the town, such as Oxford or Starkville. In this respect the only AAC member that I'd consider to be in a college town is ECU, since all the other members are in fairly big cities.

Spent a lot of time in Houston on business travel - they have a tremendous number of really good and varied restaurants. However, I still like Memphis for my pork barbecue and ribs, hands-down.

It's one of the few cities I've never spent any significant time in strangely enough.

Of course Memphis isn't a college town, but Normal Station and the Highland Strip certainly is.
