The right doesn’t divide people into little groups because they don’t really have different groups of people to divide. The demographics are different. You got a bunch of the same dude.

Where they do play the tribalism game is by spreading fear over how the other side is going to make them a victim. We got a comment in another thread here saying that the left wants a federal police force. Based on nothing. That’s the kinda stuff I’m talking about and it’s just one example. That’s why I’ve kinda left this board after a long time of posting. It’s right wing fear mongering and the good conversations are HARD to find.

That is flat out NOT TRUE and you know it.

The right has white, black, Hispanic, Latino, Asian, female, gay, trans, all types from across the entire American spectrum.

The right does not divide itself up into those groups because people on the right of all races, creeds, genders and every other type prefer to see themselves as AMERICANS first, as opposed to their little tribe first.

Don't lie to yourself about this point. What you said is NOT TRUE. Its a left wing talking point a the very core of left wing ideology.

The right technically does have those people, but they are pretty dang small (but growing) in number. It’s not exactly a rainbow. It’s getting better because back in 96 the Republicans/GOP Leaners were 96% white, you’ve made it to 81%.

As a side note, it’s amazing that minority votes were a very small number even back in the 90s.

Again that is just flat out not true. All you are doing is repeating the most well known left wing talking point of all.

Nearly half of the Latino and Hispanic voters are right wing, and 45% of the female vote is. Actually it goes further than that, the majority of Hispanics and Latinos are conservative in most areas. They typically vote conservative in their local elections.

When you play this little game of pretending the right are nearly all white males you scream from the hilltops that you buy into the most divisive and dishonest of all far left talk points.

You are simply not going to think that unless your worldview comes from race based identity politics. Its a classic dog whistle and a DEAD GIVEAWAY.

You probably grew up surrounded by that political ideology.

And I have talked to you enough to know that you are a fair minded, moral and thoughtful man. And I think you also have Christ in or very near your heart, and I think you know full well where my values and world view comes from (HIM).

The biggest problem on the left is that they have replaced God with their ideology. It is their whole world and when it is ridiculed or brought into question it’s like a personal attack upon them. It like most ideologies is fraught with misconceptions but that doesn’t get in the way of their zealous crazed extremists.

Fact of the matter is, without slavery, it's all but certain the Civil War would not have happened. Just like without oil, it's all but certain neither Iraq Wars would have happened. You can put lipstick on these pigs and call it "money" to try to hide from these facts, but reality is money is why we had slaves and oil to begin with. The vast majority of wealth today is in the hands of passive investors who have nothing to do with what they invested in to gain such wealth. They just have the opportunity to save and the insight to invest, because they are aware that's how the game is played.

That's the difference between the have's and have-not's in today's world. The have's are those who had the means and insight to invest, and the have-not's are the workers.

I've made way more money in the market while sitting on my a$$ than I ever did as a "worker". And I started out flat broke. Zero inheritance from anyone. I simply was lucky enough to make a little money early in life running a successful small business for a few years to give me the "means" to invest, where I proceeded to make the real money while sitting on my a$$ the past 20 years.

Of course it's unfair, but you have Republicans to thank for this unfairness in society. They fight tooth and nail to double down on this unfairness until it falls in on itself.

In my opinion, every citizen from birth should own a small piece of a US sovereign wealth fund as a form of UBI, to take part in this huge wealth creation machine over time, and thus virtually eliminate need for government entitlements.

I think we'll eventually end up there through some kind of crypto system. Yes, it mixes capitalism with socialism, but that's what we need to compete with China. It's creates powerful productivity and efficiency.

Spoken like a true Marxist with a guilty conscience. Did ever occur to your very feeble mind that people get to where they are in life by making the right or wrong decisions. Not just one right or wrong but mulitple decisions to get where they are in life.

I believe if you ever had the sense as a child to read the story of THE LITTLE RED HEN it might give you insight as to why handouts DON'T WORK, WON'T WORK, HAVE NEVER WORKED.

At one point in your life you worked hard and smart and through luck you did well according to yourself. Now if truly believe what you are saying then you should immediately divest and parcel out all of your wealth to those less fortunate regardless of the decisions they have made in life. Otherwise you are no better than your hero Bernie Sanders who doesn't give a dime to charity of any kind.

Take another toke, have a blow for your nose…

You may be certifiably insane. So, for the last 20 years you haven’t really “worked”, but every other “worker” out here should be denied that same opportunity?
Is that not literally the American/capitalist dream?

Or are you just playin? It’s a form of nimby-ism.

I dun got mine 20 some years ago, so I’m good. So Ima lecture YOU, plebe, why you’re not allowed to do the same.

Lissen to me! I know what’s best for you! Forget what I did, you’re not capable, even though I was.

Let the benevolent Gubment take over your life and you’ll be much happier, like in Cuba, Venezuela, Honduras, Guatemala, even Brazil.

Trust me. I’m clearly better and smarter than you, I’m here to help.

You’re truly a parody of a caricature belonging in the Sunday funny papers.

Only you ain funny.

Sad.

Never said you're not allowed to do same or not capable. You're brainwashed into thinking socialism is all or nothing. Hate to tell you this but we have been living with socialism since FDR and the "New Deal". Look how that turned out. The question is no longer do we want socialism. We already know we need it and depend on it. The real question is therefore how much do we need. I simply proposed a better "mix" than we already have.

Not only that, but the red state of Alaska has been doing this for decades. Is Alaska SOCIALIST! Last I checked, capitalism is still thriving there despite the increased mix of socialism, including their oil industry which is a large part of their sovereign wealth fund, a small part of which belongs to every Alaskan citizen. If Alaska can do it, there is no reason why the entire country can't do it. Our wealth producing capability equals or exceeds that of Alaska as a whole.

RE: The "WOKE" dog whistle
After this season of Big Brother on CBS, I'm now fully onboard the "woke" bandwagon. There is no denying that the "media" has taken it way too far. Calling it "reverse-racism" doesn't even do it enough justice. It's downright blatant racism. The lack of realization that any race can be guilty of racism is in fact a form of racism in itself. You can't solve racism by introducing even more of it. I'd call this season of Big Brother the most racist show I've ever seen broadcast on network television. And that says a lot.

Past Big Brother contestants weigh in on the Cookout and accusations of 'reverse racism'

From a dude with a bi-racial family.

You are trying to hard and overcompensating for your own insecurities and guilt.

You are projecting your sucky experiences and passing it off as fact.

Sounds like you had sorry parents.

or, he is flat-out lying. This is a cut-and-paste from Reddit probably.

Nobody talks like this.

I was just being honest. If you're white and you grew up in the Memphis area, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Just the extreme racial polarization in the voting is enough to prove I'm telling the truth. My parents are actually from the north and very much not the white superiority type. What I'm talking about is mainly just the lingo and subtle hints. You just go along with it because it's the way of life. Just like most went along with slavery back in the day because it was the way of life whether you supported it or not.

Example(s)?

I can honestly say as a white guy growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, I met about 3 or 4 people who ever uttered white-supremacist ideas or concepts in my presence. The experience was so rare — and frankly, weird — that I am still able to remember the faces and voices of the people who said these things, although their names are long forgotten.

Quote:OF COURSE that still goes on. I know it for a fact because I "feel" it whenever I get around the Trump-types.
I totally believe that.

I'm not talking KKK, racial-war white supremacy. Just a general feeling of yeah sure, they are part of society, but they are somehow inferior.

I can even give an example of feeling it in school. The biggest confused moment I had in schooling in the south was being taught about the Civil War. They made a HUGE effort to say it wasn't really about slavery as much as the economy. That ALWAYS raised BS flags in me. OF COURSE it was about slavery. That drove all the other issues, not the other way around. Now today I FINALLY figured out why they taught it that way. Like if we're taught to believe it wasn't about slavery, then slavery must not have been so bad. Right? They taught it that way to feel better about themselves and their history, while effectively hiding the truth. I only briefly went to school in the north. Would have loved to have known how it was taught up there.

It's really a pretty simple concept.

Again it wasn't like they convinced me. I always knew better. But it was more like they all had to be convinced. Not me. I just went along with it in name only because I'd feel out of place if I didn't go along with the crowd. Just like 99% of the crowd is doing.

And THAT is the problem CRT is trying to solve.

There is nothing short of a lobotomy that will solve your issues. There's not an original thought in anything you've said yet.

CRT is the polar opposite of equality under the law. I a sure whites would be stunned if they could secretly record some of the conversations that happen at "the cookout" on Sunday, so what.

I completely agree with you blacks are no different than whites when it comes to racism. We are all human and thus subject to the same human nature. But that doesn't hide the fact that minorities are the ones being oppressed by this at this time. My only argument to CRT is only to the extent that it is not applied equally to all races. It's called "Critical Race Theory", not "Critical White Race Theory". So in theory it should apply to all races. That's what we should be "woke" about.. not "woke" to joking about it and thus not taking it seriously.
That is total BS. And there are plenty of places where "whites" are a minority.

The city of Memphis is 70% black. Most urban centers are majority black or brown.

The jail where I work has probably 95% black employees. They are each polite and respectful almost to a fault because while some of them will smile and greet you courteously as they pass you in a hallway you can feel the hatred coming off some of them. Some have been conditioned to hate whites and blame us as the source of all their ills, not all but certainly enough that it's significant.

In my daily dealings with many blacks though there is a change occurring, many are waking up to just who the true racists among them are and they understand it's white liberal democrats. They have seen the generational failures of the democrat party to deliver on the promises made during election seasons, promises that ring hollow and never come to fruition. They see it in the fact that after decades of blind fealty to their party that little positive change has occurred as a result of any efforts by the democrats. The urban centers they dominate in population are worse shiteholes than 40 years ago. Their youth still suffer disproportionate unemployment, high school drop out rates and teenage pregnancies, their households are increasingly led by unwed mothers and grandparents. There's your institutional and systemic racism right there. You support it by blindly voting democrat so own it sucker.

That's because you were probably raised by a pair of flower-power parents who lived the "peace, love, harmony" of the 60's.

I grew up in a military family, and as a white guy, I was NEVER taught anything about white being superior to black or black superior to white.... or any of the other lying racist claptrap you're claiming you "Grew up with".

Same here, until I was 11 or so I lived on Army bases. The schools I attended were a diversity officers wet dream. As kids we never allowed race to dictate who our friends were.

It would be a lie to say we live in a colorless world. But I was raised to treat everyone with respect until someone does something to earn being disrespected. It is human nature to form an opinion on anyone at first sight and that can come from a multitude of things besides color.

While I agree some blacks might feel this way, it's laughable if you feel any significant majority have taken up that line of thinking. Traditionally when someone turns Republican, it can be traced to one or more of the 3 G's: Guns (immigration), Greed (taxes), or God (religion). Trying to brainwash yourself into thinking significant numbers of a minority group which typically lives close to the poverty line would turn Republican because they aren't getting enough free stuff is just absurd. They'd have to latch onto one of the 3 G's as the driver before they brainwashed themselves into that line of thinking.

I grew up in a military family as well. Many generations on both sides were military also. Can't get more military than mine. But that has nothing to do with the fact people act differently in private than they do in public. Just because your military family was "woke" all your life doesn't mean mine was.

(07-16-2021 11:13 PM)scorpius Wrote:  Okay I'm not kidding here. This is all true.

I finally figured out what "woke" means. Up until now it sounded like something to do with Star Wars and the "wookie". Why did the far-right all of a sudden have so much of a wookie fascination to turn it into a dog whistle?!

Previously I had heard Trump awkwardly use this new dog whistle during his first rally as ex-president about a month ago. Sounded like he didn't even know what it meant. But it seemed to excite the crowd, so he used it.

Then tonight my tv accidentally got left on Newsmax. They were using the "woke" dog whistle every other sentence. So much so I could get a "fix" on a definition. It basically means anyone fighting against structural white superiority in society. You'd naturally think this is a good thing. But obviously not to a white supremacist. That's why they made the dog whistle to ridicule the idea, trying to brainwash people into believing somehow there isn't structural white superiority in society. 03-lmfao I mean how can there be if anyone who thinks so is demonized as "woke".. which conjures the image of a wookie. 03-lmfao

Does this go back to the whole "critical race theory" idea? I can honestly say as a white guy growing up in the 70's and 80's, I was constantly being taught both directly and indirectly that there's something "superior" about being white over black. OF COURSE that still goes on. I know it for a fact because I "feel" it whenever I get around the Trump-types. So how exactly is it "bad" to fight against this structural racism?! It can NOT be good for society.

So--openly admitting you were raised by white supremacists. Good for you stepping forward and admitting your flawed upbringing. Just a quick FYI---while that may have been "normal" for you----I assure you---most of us were not raised by such horrific people and harbor no such thoughts. Most of us were raised to believe in a color blind society where your value is based not on the color of skin but on the content of your character. 03-banghead
