Better for your programs would be efficiency and impact. More impact doing it zoom.

CUSA has nobody but itself and we continue to take days off.

It’s not comparable

what the heck are you talking about? Not even the SEC has that size of a tv contract.
And no one for ESPN is promoting this for them. Heck if you go to their board most of their fans didn't even know when or that it was gonna be digital this year.
Everything for the AAC will be done on ESPN+ also.

Did the AAC not sign a tv deal with ESPN in 2019 that would pay that league $83 million per year over a 12 yr span?

I’d love for our school to have extra money to put on its own tv broadcasts.

Yes you are right they did but the final figure comes out to like 7.5 to 8 million per year to each school for the rights to their basketball and football games. Which is great and id like for us to even get a million from a tv deal but ESPN spent that just to have first dibs on their games. ESPN doesn't care about the other things that goes on in the league which is understandable. I promise that the conference media day had no bearing on that deal....performance on the field and court did.

The new “work from home” approach.

RE: Conference USA skips out on hosting a traditional conference media day
Literally the only fans who care about this "in person" media day are the handful on social media who complain about it. It doesn't impact coverage negatively to do a remote approach for any program not in the SEC, ACC, Big Ten or Pac-12, who own conference networks and use it not for the live media coverage but as an economical means to amass programming materials for their networks.

Modern approach is to OWN YOUR OWN STORY. Media companies have been downsized to the point that they are not going to cover the non-power programs well, especially in C-USA markets. They can't. And because they haven't done a good job, because they can't, fans tune them out and then it becomes self-perpetuating. What they do doesn't get eyeballs because fans of the C-USA schools don't go there, so they deduce there is no interest and further cut the coverage. Nothing is going to change this, BTW.

Far better to tell your own story your own way, and go direct to consumer with the distribution, or to spoon feed it to the overworked media staffs who don't have the budget to travel and are covering 3 things in addition to the C-USA team they cover. C-USA will get a higher attendance on a Zoom than on an in-person event, I guarantee that.

Yea pretty much.
This AAC contract is also the reason i don't think they will be adding another team to the conference especially since they pretty much don't have to with the new CFP coming and divisionless football on the horizon. Why would each school give up 600k of the 7.5 they would receive to feed another mouth? And i doubt ESPN would renegotiate a new deal to give the league another 90 million for the new member. Lets face it....i think we are stuck in CUSA for a while.

AAC will try to avoid adding a team if they can, but I think they'll end up needing a 12th. After much hand-wringing, that team will be UAB. At which time we can debate the merits of Thursday night games, lol.

The AAC is not needing a 12th team so how does UAB get into the conference? Nevermind, I'll find the thread where you explain how it would happen.

Oh you are ready to hear about our 1990’s offense and how winning games isn’t a good thing?

The "silly season" is year round here.

Nobody complains about winning ball games. Only about the defense having to pitch a perfect game because the offense no-shows second halves.

I think that maybe by design in many cases. We sit on 2nd half leads, burning clock and relying on the defense.

Knowing the defense is going to extend drives on personal fouls. Being in the bottom half of the FBS in points scored isn’t acceptable, especially with the league we play in.

I'm not saying I agree with it or like it - just that that's the way it is.

And Bama showed us in the 1972 Iron Bowl game how that strategy might not work out so well. A good history student learns from the mistakes of others so he can avoid them himself.

Remind me again why anyone on this site - other than you - should give a rip about what happened in the Iron Bowl?
