‘The 5’: The most intriguing three-star prospects in the 2022 class

Quote:4. Three-star QB Tevin Carter

High school: Memphis (Tenn.) PURE Youth
Ranking: No. 581 overall, No. 36 QB
Height/weight: 6-3, 230 pounds
Commitment: Memphis
Other offers: Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee and others

The buzz: Carter was the lowest-rated player to participate in the Elite 11 camp. You know what that means? He’s still one of the best quarterback prospects in the country. He’s also the highest-rated quarterback in the 2022 cycle who has committed to a Group of 5 program. Though the concept of Power 5 versus Group of 5 might be extinct as conference expansion continues — especially after the Big 12 added Cincinnati, Houston, UCF and BYU — the Tigers are still a smaller program that plays an exciting brand of offense. SMU landed four-star quarterback Preston Stone out of Dallas Parish Episcopal in the 2021 class, and this feels kind of similar for Memphis. There’s a really, really good local quarterback prospect, and the Tigers landed him. It’ll be fun to see Carter cook at Memphis.

RE: Tevin Carter update
So maybe he will take on the competition. Good to hear. Great mentality too. Of course, with new transfer rules, your first choice doesn't cost you nearly as much. Come in a year, compete. See what happens. If it doesn't suit your liking, you're somewhere else in year 2.

He wants to play qb - NOT db. Hard to imagine him and Seth on the same roster for more than 1 year. Whoever loses that qb comp, will be BOH by 2023.

Of course, I keep hearing Jason Smith on the radio throwing out the scenario that a B12 program could decide to just take Seth from us next year. Maybe I'm wrong, but I see absolutely no evidence of why anyone would say that.
