No P5's this year.
When you are a bad program as UTRGV has historically been, you just need to get some W’s to build momentum! Should we be viewing VB as a sport where the WAC can make some noise? It’s not high on my list even amongst women’s sports
But historically we haven't been all that bad. In 2016 we beat Baylor, (but lost to mighty SHSU...) won the WAC tournament, went to the NCAA tournament, and went 21-14. In 2017 we hosted the WAC tournament, beat NMSU, and went 17-12. 2018 we went 22-9 and beat Baylor again. In 2019 we beat Maryland.
Then it all went wrong, and last season we were 16-1 in sets against Chicago State, Tarleton, and Dixie State.

Since Todd Lowery came over, RGV has been a very solid program. Highly competitive coach everywhere he's been.

I’ve watched tons of D1 volleyball; I got no problem with it at all - just wasn’t high up on the sports I was considering to be a noise maker in the new WAC

Sorry but we, Tarleton, beat you in both matches we played last year, 3-1 and 3-0. Did you mean you were 1-16 against the three teams.

Sorry. Yes, that's what I meant. We lost 16 sets and won 1 set. And suffered the ultimate disgrace of being swept even by Tarleton.

Possible dig but I’ll bite anyway.
Not sure I would use the words ultimate disgrace as we finished fourth out of nine teams last season.

I see what you did there ... not sure if you wanted to, but good pun there.
I am excited for this season. With NMSU in two tournaments in the East, I would love to have traveled to them, but my cross country team has races those weekends.

Makes me wonder...
The "top squad crossover" features the top three teams in last year's WAC standings and the top three teams coming over from the SLC, but should it have been based off top three in the two WAC divisions? Tarleton would've made it if so based off last year?

Oh yes, axes are a way of life for lumberjacks and it is tradition to bring your axe handles to the football games.

I’m looking forward to an improved Chicago State team. I think they’ll be able to surprise the WAC this year. Hoping to catch some of their tournaments nearby at Eastern Illinois and Indiana.

Tony is a great coach and will get the best of the players. I don't know the level of player he can get at CSU, but he's had great success recruiter and coaching at HBCU's. I don't think he is anxious to leave Chicago at all, so I hope he'll stick around longer term.
And he's well known and admired in the MEAC so maybe that'll be a plus for you in getting in.
