Tubby retired right after he won the title in 98. Has been trending down since.
Texas tech wanted to keep him when we hired him - for what it’s worth.
In all our threads about the Tubby hire, I have never seen Mark Alnutt held accountable for his role in it. Dude must wear teflon.
I've never heard of him.

This was my very correct and concise response to your post. It's not my fault that (as I stated), you can't control yourself and turned it into yet another rant about how mean I am.
Oh, I don't think you're mean. But, it's abundantly clear that you have nothing better to do than to reply to a post on one subject, with multiple quotes of ground we've covered literally hundreds of times, of a different subject.
If my posts to you convey that I think you're "mean", then I truly apologize. I don't think you're mean, at all. A lame douche, that ruins most threads in an attempt to validate himself...absolutely. But mean, nah.
I'll say it for the 483rd time...I think Tubby was a bad hire at the time, despite the fact that the most honorable man I've ever known (who spent his entire life in college athletics as a coach and administrator), knew Tubby personally and thought he was a really good human being.
But yeah, please feel free to continue to beat a dead horse and do whatever makes you feel better about yourself. You clearly need the attention and validation.
You are a confused little man. It is a thread about Tubby that you commented on. The entire premise of the thread is rehashing what a stupid hire it was and how much Tubby sucked. I am correcting you, trying to make you less confused. As usual, you can't control yourself, guilty of the exact thing you accuse me of.
So sad Mensa's.
Someone commented on that people in Lubbock are dumb. I simply replied that the folks in Memphis who hired him were also dumb.
You chose to turn it into a crapfest. Like you do with most other threads.
I broke my promise to stop replying to your garbage. My fault. I'm done. Go argue with someone else. That shouldn't be a problem for you.
I didn't make it anything. I made a very accurate, very concise response. You went into your usual hysterics.

Ummm...you do realize that we hired him and paid him a boat load of money, right?
We already established the fact that sometimes very smart people do very dumb things. 90% of the board realized that it was a **** hire from the start.
While I agree, in hindsight, that the hire wasn't right...90% of the board did not know it was a bad hire from the start. Most were on board with the hire, at first.
Even the AAU guy that everyone worshipped, was a big Tubby supporter in the beginning. He said so here and on Memphis sports radio, until Tubby wouldn't bow down to him.
But, that wasn't the point of my statement. You're just looking for a message board fight, because that's what you enjoy.
I was against it from the beginning and have the post history to prove it. HA HA!
I yelled, 'give the man a chance' at all the people who were dissing him...I would now like to apologize for my idiocy... to you and whoever ...lol
The first time he dissed Memphis, though, I was off the Tubby wagon.

Even though I hated the hire, I still had an open mind after the fact. He went on two vacations within 4 months of the hire. The first when we had 7 scholarship players, and the second when we had 8 scholarship players. It's fine when a coach does it "his way" when you can reasonably expect a payoff in 2-4 years, but Tubby hadn't done an adequate job with his own players in a decade, when we hired him. Hiring his useless kid (the point of this thread) was icing on the cake.
At that, I praised him for the job he did most of his first year. Everything after that was a mess.

The less back and forth with him the cleaner the board will be.
You are correct. I will cease and dissest.

I thought Mark Alnutt was the guy campaigning for Tubby's fire/Penny's hire....over Bowen's removal if necessary. Maybe I have him mixed up with someone else.

hmmm...dunno about that
Alnutt worked for Bowen during the Tubby hiring and firing. But if memory serves correctly, he took the Buffalo job like 1 day after Penny was hired.
I'm just not sure how much he was involved in either hiring.

My understanding was Alnutt was the lead recruiter for Tubby but that may be wrong.
He was everywhere until the Tubby deal started going south, then radio silence then BOH to Buffalo. It's water under the bridge now but I was just curious if anyone could enlighten.

O yeah...my bad. Now I remember Alnutt. I definitely got him mixed up with someone else. His BOH was a welcome one!
