RE: Texas Democrats Undermine Sacred Democracy
Saw a humorous interview with one of the Texas dems who fled. She laughed about the threat of being arrested and claimed "we haven't done anything wrong."

Running away so there is no quorum is OK, according to her. Mental defectives. Vote them out but not until after they've been arrested for acting like little children who threw a tantrum.

All one can do is shake your head at the stupidity of those runaway democrats who are comparing themselves to soldiers at Normandy or civil rights heroes. Total lack of self awareness and how they look to normal people.

Idea for a new parody movie.....Runaway Dems

Jen Psaki Makes Big Admission After Peter Doocy Corners Her Over Texas Democrats Situation

Quote:Contrary to what they want people to think, the Texas Democrats who packed into a private jet complete with cases of Miller Lite beer Monday and took off to Washington, D.C. in an effort to kill a state election reform bill proposal are not stunning and brave and they most certainly aren’t courageous heroes making great sacrifices a la civil rights icons from days gone by.

Also contrary to what they and the Biden administration want people to believe, the bill in question is not a “voter suppression” bill nor is it “Jim Crow,” as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott pointed out in an explainer on the bill yesterday.

But one interesting component on the actions of the Texas Democrats that hasn’t been touched on much is how what they’re doing is effectively a filibuster. Though they bailed on their constituents by leaving the state (which is wrong), the idea behind them running away is to stall the bill and prevent it from moving forward, which is more or less what a filibuster does.

Perhaps with the Democratic position on how the filibuster should be reformed or abolished, and President Joe Biden’s evolving views on the matter in mind, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy sparred with White House press secretary Jen Psaki on the matter today, and in the process got her to admit towards the end of their back and forth on the subject that President Biden supports what the Democrats who fled Texas are doing.

Watch:

What happened during this particular exchange were two things that ultimately could come back and haunt Biden his fellow Democrats in the 2022 midterms and beyond. For starters, Democrats have been desperate to paint Texas blue for years, but my gut feeling about Democrats in Texas is that there are enough old-school Democrats there who do not appreciate their state legislators cutting and running even if they agree with them about the election reform bill. Suggesting Biden is on board with what those lawmakers are doing could be one more thing that could backfire on Dem attempts to turn Texas blue on down the line.

Secondly, in effect, Psaki as much as admitted that Biden backs using whatever approach works to stalling legislation you oppose which, again, is the filibuster in a nutshell. Republicans will be able to use this argument against him later as House/Senate Dem attempts to reform/abolish the filibuster are not going away anytime soon, especially after what happened with the H.R. 1/S.1 bills.

Pete Hegseth Nails Runaway Texas Dem to the Wall With One Simple Question

Quote:Texas Democrats have fled the state claiming that they’re fighting “voter suppression” in the Republicans’ election security bill, they’re “saving democracy” and fighting for the “right to vote.”

Of course, everyone who can legally vote is able to vote, not one person is being denied the right to vote by bettering election security. Texas is actually giving more hours and expanding early voting to 12 days. Meanwhile, Joe Biden’s state of Delaware doesn’t have any early voting, a point that Texas Governor Greg Abbott made. But what it is doing is requiring voter ID for mail-in ballots. They already have voter ID for in-person voting. So why would anyone object? They would object if they wanted to cheat through the mail-in ballot.

So you would think if this bill is as horrible as the Texas Democrats say — if it’s Jim Crow, worst thing since the Civil War, a “domestic threat” that he must protect against, as Joe Biden claims — then they should be able to tell us who is actually being denied the right to vote, right? They’re saying that’s happening. So who is being denied?

Fox’s Pete Hegseth asked that very question of one of the runaway Texas Democrats, James Talarico. He wasn’t able to name one person who would be denied.

Democrats seem to want no security, no ID, no verification of who is voting — that’s the real issue. That’s why they’re really upset here, because this interferes with their efforts at a power grab. They know they will lose and don’t want the election security.

Talarico goes even further and gives the game away when he even admits that he’s against voter ID, something most Americans support, with good reason.

Pete Hegseth is incredulous that Talarico admits it, that he doesn’t want to secure the most “sacred” right of voting. Talarico tries to evade Hegseth’s probing, saying there are folks that don’t have driver’s licenses. But that isn’t what the law says is required. You can prove your ID by other means, as Hegseth explains. Who are these adults who don’t have ID or can’t prove who they are? In Texas, even doctors’ offices ask you for ID, an odd thing I had never heard of coming from New Jersey, but just found out after moving to Texas. So either Democrats pushing this are racist and want to push this nonsensical “people of color can’t get ID” thing again. Or they simply don’t want ID required at all, as Talarico admitted because they don’t want the security of the vote.

And why doesn't Biden oppose voting laws in NY and DE that are more restrictive than the new Texas laws.

Because they're Blue states of course.

But you knew that.

All the TX Dem House members should be impeached for impersonating singers. That was awful.

Runaway Texas Dems Getting Extra Pay While on the Lam and Costing the Taxpayers a Bundle

Quote:The runaway Texas Democrats are touting their ‘courage’ for running off to D.C. on an extended junket while not doing the job that they were elected to do.

But it turns out that not only are they receiving their salaries while doing this; the Democrat state representatives are also receiving a special stipend (or per diem) of $221.00 per day for every day the legislature is in session, even though they aren’t actually there, according to Fox. So they’re getting paid extra while working less, on the taxpayer dime.

The communications and strategy director for the Texas Democratic Caucus Cara Santucci had claimed that no taxpayer dollars were “going into this work” of the Democrats. So obviously this was a lie, since they’re still getting that money (unless they specifically turn it down, as at least one legislator tweeted that she had).

On top of that, because the Democrats aren’t there, the work the legislature is supposed to get done – passing bills – can’t get done because there isn’t a quorum. So nothing is getting passed, yet everyone is still being paid. That amounts to about $43,000 per day for nothing because of the Democrats’ obstructionist move. So yes, it is costing Texas a lot, every single day.

Republican Rep. Jared Patterson is keeping a count for the record.

The Speaker of the House Dade Phelan is asking the Democrats to return the extra money that they’re getting.

“Under the Texas Constitution….per diem must be paid to each member for each day of a special session, regardless of whether the member is actually present,” Phelan said. “I am requesting all members who are intentionally absent for the purpose of preventing the House from conducting business during the special session to return your constitutional per diem to the state’s treasury immediately upon receipt.”

The Democratic Caucus chair Rep. Chris Turner had the audacity to say they’re entitled to the money because “we’re working harder doing what we’re doing right now than we would be if we had stayed in the chamber.”

These people really are delusional and full of themselves.

Yes, let’s look at what these characters are doing while they’re “working” so much “harder.”

Here’s Rep. Gene Wu.

I’m just betting that’s not what Texas voters thought they were paying for when voting for their representatives.

Given how worthless most of them are normally, that's actually believable.

The verify team on the local news said they are using campaign funds. If you actually want to believe it. They are politicians aka liars. Most likely using public funding per diem.

Once again the local news accepts lies as facts and verifies false statements. I had a gut feeling Texas Dems were using per diem money which is tax payer money to fund their escapade. It’s $221 a day and they are now saying they’ll return the money. The Liars are getting paid to not do their job. Sad. I have no faith on reimbursement.

Bad news for them. Governor said when this special session ends in August he’ll call another and another until they show. So, unless they are permanently moving out of state they are in a no win situation unless the Dems are able to weasel some voting laws through the Senate. Not likely too many Dem Senators oppose removing filibuster.
