If the Stanley Cup Finals turn out to be TB/Colorado it's setting up for one helluva series, whereas Dallas and Montreal were Cinderella teams that were ultimately undermanned. The layoff for the Avs might hurt them though.

Never say never...the Rangers did come back down 3-2 in their last two series.

TB did a great job, and if the two first period post shots had gone in would have been 4-1, or 5-1. But they need to go ahead and close this thing out in TB Saturday Night.

Game is played very differently if one of those off the posts go in (one was early in the first other was early in the 2nd). Neither team played very aggressive the first two periods and shots were pretty low. Had one of those gone in they play that game differently and who knows how it turns out. Plus, a number of what ifs for the Rangers too including late in the game so you never know.

Vatano with a great goal on the Power Play for NY, but TBL played a great game and kept the pressure (and chances) on throughout.

Fans will get to see the two best teams in the finals, and if COL wins, it will be over the two-time defending champs, as is appropriate.

Bring on Lord Stanley's Cup!!

Starts Wednesday night! Last meaningful playoffs of the year until World Series in October!

Vegas Golden Knights hire Bruce Cassidy as new head coach

...had a feeling about this when Boston released him... With Galant doing well in NYR, I hope this will be the good move that can take them to the next level (CUP, that is).

[Image: Bruce-Cassidy-press-conference-1400x931.jpg]

Cassidy will be tasked with returning the Knights to Stanley Cup contention, as his predecessors set a high bar.

DeBoer was 98-50-12 (.650 points percentage) and led the Knights to back-to-back semifinal appearances in his first two seasons.
Gerard Gallant was 118-75-20 (.601 points percentage) and won the Jack Adams Award while steering the team to the 2018 Stanley Cup Final.

So far no layoff hangover fo COL.

Those two tripping cals in 1st Per were killers for TB.

TB's passing and Power Play looked okay on their 1st opportunity. I think they're a bit shaken by COL's speed. So far TB looks more of a passing/setup offense while COL is just getting to the puck faster and creating lots of instant opportunities.

Vasilevskiy should have had that 5-hole goal. 1st one he's given up in this year's playoffs. That was kind of embarrassing.

Let's see how they settle in during 2nd Per. That should tell us more what kind of series this might be.

more aggressive hitting here in 2nd Per so far.

Too many men on ice for Avs, so TB gets a PP chance....

So far, I liked the TNT anouncing crew a lot better than the ABC/ESPN ones. These guys are too staid.

PS Tonight's Hockey Game is THE Most Expensive Ticket in the History of Denver Sports.
Lower Bowl seats going for more than $3K tonight.

Think about that with the Broncos there forever. People Luv hockey!

Don't really have a dog in this hunt, but great hockey game tonight! Both teams passing has been excellent, though TB a bit better and COL more straight-line opportunists. The level of play as these two teams feel each other out in Game 1 is very enjoyable. Hope the series goes 6 or 7.

That delay of game penalty could've sunk the Lightning. But going to OT in Game 1 all tied at 3 each.

He77 of a game!

SCOOOOOOOORRRREEEEE!!!!

What a heckuva play off the pass from Nichushkin! Andre Burakovsky, the former Capital and Austrian, wins it with an amazing clutch goal!

Game 1 goes to the Avs! Game 2 Saturday!

COL has won all four of their game 1s in this Playoffs.

How stupid of TB to come out and get a dumb penalty 1 minute into the game against this hot Avalanche team.

Now another goal makes it 2-0.

TB looks nothing like themselves so far on the ice.

McDonagh making some piss-poor decisions on the ice for the Lightning, allowing COL to wind it up every time. Guy needs to get his head back on staught or get off the ice.

COL playing aggessive and consistent on the constant foechecking, allowing TB little set-up and look at how Nate McKinnon skates! Amazing playe. I honsetly don't know how Vegas is going to have an answer for the 'Lanche next season.

Heckva 1st period for COL. Let's see if they can keep up the pessure, or TB will be in a world of hurt going back home for Game 3.

Gee whiz, now 5-0! I don't really care either way, but this is shocking for TB, the defending champs to be dominated this way.

Makar came alive, like they even needed him in this one.

7-0, and it wasn't even that close!

I can't understand hy bring Vasilevskiy back out for 3rd Period. Should have gotten him more rest for Game 3.

COL decided to take it to them full speed and use the altitude to see if TB could keep up. Risky strategy, but it clearly worked. COL showing how it's done in Record territory.

Gonna be do or die for Lightining on Monday Night. COL will come and bring everything they've got again, and why not? They have nothing to lose.

Only shame is I would like to see more hockey this year.

Q: Has Vasilevskiy ever had a worse game percentage than .767?
