Penny genuinely cares about these guys.

He does this stuff just to help and doesn't look to capitalize on any of it for himself.

A must watch for everyone. Penny did the exact same thing for RJ Hampton. I'm sure there are more like this, but these are two situations where Penny gave hours and hours of his free time, for literally nothing in return; nothing that would directly benefit him or the program.

Hampton's case is especially amazing, because Penny lost out on him the pro ball in Australia. He had no connection to him aside from recruiting him.

One of the biggest risers during the NBA Combine was old rival Quentin Grimes. Grimes spent his time ahead of the Combine training with Penny on PG skills.

It puts a lot of things in perspective...doesn't it. Someone who isn't bitter or all whacked out about his 'early retirement' but instead, supports others in their path to get there.

It's amazing that he has helped guys improve and get to the NBA but we had guys here that decided that their situation at Memphis under Penny was not good enough and left.

In most cases the parents or the so called handlers are the problem. Not the player.
