Seriously, Duren is the defensive anchor while Emoni is the unstoppable man scorer. Suuround that with vet role guys and you got a title favorite. That team will lock up first with a huge versatile lineup and a mismatch scorer to take over in Bates

That will work fine if the other team runs straight back to the 3 point line on defense every single time.

true but think how long we will be. nobody will have to dribble past their man to beat the press. if someone is dumb enough to press us, we likely break it with the pass a lot don't you think?

It's going to be interesting to see the minute distribution with all the newcomers. We look like we are legit 10+ deep. I'm wondering if big Sam gets redshirted now.

You mean like a "hit team" and a "bomb squad". I think that guy is coaching at Texas Southern.

We are very tall. We only have 2 players shorter than 6'-5".

LQ and Nolley can't break a press. We know that. From what I've seen, ET probably can't either.

Legitimately really deep team
The two Lawsons, Lomax, Harris, Dandridge and three other pretty good freshmen coming off the bench
I would guess especially if we sign Bates that one or two of the above may leave
But like football, always good to have lots of good players. There is always next season and there are always injuries

I can say that no matter what level of basketball, there’s no such thing as too many players or too much talent. My high school roster was set and deep and I just had 2 late commits (private school) that will both be starters most likely. One of which is a 6’7” sophomore. I’ll figure out the rotation later. And after the parent/coach/player meeting next week, a lot of it may work it self out. As in, non starters may decide not to play. I don’t agree with it, because we can all learn life lessons even when riding the pine, but I can’t teach parents how to raise their kids.
Also, last season, my roster was set, we were going gang busters to start the season, at 5-1 with our only loss being a 4 point set back to a large Catholic school 5 times our size. Then the injury bug hit 3 of my starters. Broken arm. Broken clavicle. Hyper extended knee. After Covid cancellations we went 13-8 and lost by one point in the state semifinal.
Point being, you never know, therefore never turn down anyone wanting to play for you. Calipari is thinking about that right now with Cockburn I guarantee it.

I think that every single time a backup lineman transfers. For that matter, some posters are shrugging off Eze leaving because he will be replaced by supposedly better players.

I sure hope Alo has herculean improvement over the summer. There will be a ton of talent around him, so hopefully that makes his job easier.

With Bates we will have 9 new players coming in, and none of them are point guards. You can even say 10, if you count Nesbitt. I suppose Harris and Timberlake can play there in a pinch, but none of them are. LQ isn't. Baugh and Boogie weren't. Very weird.

RE: Starting Lineup (before any more possible additions)
Primary (note that I did not using "starting") line-up:
Without Bates:
PG: Lomax
Wings: Lester, Nolley, Timberlake
PF: Williams
C: Duren
With Bates:
PG: Lomax
Wings: Lester, Nolley, Timberlake, Bates
PF: Williams
C: Duren
Top seven players in terms of minutes and with Bates (Lomax, Lester, Nolley, Timberlake, Bates, Williams and Duren)
No. 8: Tyler Harris (to come off the bench and drain threes)
No. 9: Chandler Lawson (I feel he will be more important than some of us realize)
No. 10 (tie): Malcolm and Josh Minott
That's a very strong 11-man rotation.
I do not foresee much playing time for Camden, Big Sam, Hardaway and Jonathan Lawson.

PG is totally my biggest fear with this team. I wish we had landed one of the transfers like Bolton.

So odd to me that Penny played point, but we haven’t been able to land a stud PG. I’m glad we’ve been able to load up on big men, but you’d think he could easily land a guard.
Boogie was close IMO, but maybe it was a pipe dream to convert him to a PG.

I am curious if Penny will remain committed to giving everyone minutes...
He made sure to play Jayden essentially every game...Wonder if that continues.
Also if Emoni doesn't come I think people are selling Jonathan short on playing point.
