So, how do you fix it?

More prisons stuffed full of prisoners serving long mandatory minimum sentences for illegally possessing a gun and attempted murder. Last night's shooters should be getting mandatory minimum 40 year sentences. They'll probably get probation. No more low bail, no more probation, no more second chances to do it again. No more "defund the police" and no more taking pity on these criminals. Lock them up and throw away the key.

Yes indeed

In spite of all that happened at a nice time at the game. Picked up a couple of bobbleheads, took a few pictures with the softball team and watched 5 innings of the game before we decided to head out as the clouds were looking very threatening and we had a long metro ride home. Missed the situation later on but aside from that it was a very nice showing of JMU Nation at the game.

Talk about irresponsible on the part of either that officer(s), or some idiot on the radio up the chain of command (and thats coming from someone who’s very pro law enforcement).

Recent events aside, the neighborhood is really much better than it was 10 years ago. They have built around it much in the same way the convention center and the basketball/hockey arena revitalized Chinatown. It's obviously not to that level yet, but generally, it is not a place I would have been nervous.

Yeah I guess they either got bad info or made a bad judgment call based on the sound. I guess the way it echoed through the stadium and concourses was misleading. Between what we heard and what I've seen from Twitter and people I know who were there it seems like a lot of us in different areas felt like it was right around us.

I mean you’re not exactly helping your case for this particular argument as someone who just admitted they haven’t been to a ballgame in 10 years and thinks Navy Yard’s pre-Nats Park days provide any relevance for how things are or should be handled now.

That was a scary situation Saturday night.

That entrance is the one I usually enter and leave based on the parking lot I use.

Here was my night Saturday -

Boys night out since Mrs Dukester was out of town. It was me, DJ (Dukester Jr) , and DJ II

Got there around 6:00 and was pleasantly surprised by how many JMU fans were there. A lot more than I expected. Went to pick up the bobblehead and was surprised about the large line but moved quickly - from there you went to another room that allowed for picture with the softball team. Sadly no Odicci or Linsey. Had already talked during dinner with my sons I wanted for us three get a picture flexing with Lindsey. Next best thing, I got with Loren and thanked her for what she had accomplished and how she did it.

Next - to my seats that were about 5 rows up from the field between first base and the foul pole. Game was getting a bit out of hand, so I was debating leaving early and it would of been through the gate of the shooting. Then at the end of an inning I heard what sounded like it could of been gun shots. (not sure about others, but that has happened to me occasionally but it's never the case). Looked over to the third base stands (where it sounded like the shoots came from) and did not see anything unusual. So then (as many others apparently did) thought maybe it was a pre-lim to the post game Fireworks that were to be shot after the game so I looked up and saw nothing, but reminded my sons of the postgame fireworks. Then I looked to the third base concord and saw fans in full sprint to the gates. Then noticed everyone started to be getting up in all the sections. My next reaction was was wondering if it a weather delay since there were storms all around on Saturday. Then I looked into the Padres dugout and saw it completely empty. I looked up at the scoreboard and it weirdly had nothing but a spinning Nationals symbol. Looked again at fans running to the gates. I told my sons get the bobble heads and let's get out of here. Going up the steps I was a bit dismayed they got the players out but still had not said anything to the fans. We went straight out the exit behind us since it was opposite from where the gunshots were heard. As we left the exit scared we would be shot by an active shooter the Nats employee warned us we could not re-enter if we left. While leaving I was wondering how someone could of gotten a gun inside the stadium. Then I heard someone as we were walking out say the gunshots came from outside the stadium. So that made me think someone was shooting inside the stadium from outside of the stadium. So we get down the steps from stadium, and someone yells "Run!" and everyone runs thinking there is someone behind us with a gun. We are in full sprint for 2 blocks and finally stop and look around and people start walking again. We walk around to the other side of the stadium where our car was, but due to areas blocked off we had to walk down a very unsafe half street with many other fans. Finally got to the car and got the hell out of DC.

What a night........

DJII said it was the first time he had ever been scared for his life.

We all said on the way home thank God Mrs Dukester was not there.

With all these mass shootings you have to take this stuff serious.

Thankfully we did not leave early as I was considering to do.....

Curious about other JMU fans reaction, and departure from the game.
