RE: Basketball Facility Updates
An updated shot inside the new Moody. They begin moving in next week. I know there is still lots of finish work to do, at least outside.

Working in construction for a GC sometimes I get to see the inside scoop on what universities are doing for expansion and Tarleton State's expansion is impressive... Their new basketball facility is going to be a beautiful arena with 7,500 seats and premium box seating with a separate basketball practice facility in the building and a dedicated indoor volleyball court in the building. There will also be a large marriot hotel right out front of where spectators would enter the arena. TAMU system money is really paying dividends for TSU right now. The basketball facility will be located in the parking lot south of the football stadium. Wish I could share renderings with you guys but I can't until the job is awarded and plans are finalized. A lot of this information should be available for public record by this point and it may have already been shared by someone else. Tarleton will likely have the best basketball facility in the WAC by the time it is completed.

Moody looks great! With the recent success ACU has had in Basketball, they should be able to pack the house on a regular basis. There is not a whole lot to do around Abilene ( same as Stephenville) and west Texas in general is pretty sports hungry. Being a private school is a hinderance, but with Dyess right there as well, you would think they could do some PR'ing with cheap tickets for military and school kid to at least pack the house for Saturday games.

Lew Hill Memorial Plaza. Lon Kruger made a 6 figure donation to the project.

Lon Kruger is a great guy. I’m glad for RGV that he has stayed connected to the institution that gave him his head coaching start.

RE: Basketball Facility Updates
NMSU finally has the new replacement PAC basketball court installed. Virtually the same design as the one that got damaged last summer with a few tweaks that make the court more esthetically pleasing.

*Tied for best. Sounds like you are building a College Park Center. We have two indoor practice facilities attached.

Is there any artist rendition of what the Tarleton arena will look like on the inside?

From simply an esthetic appearance, in my mind, CBU currently has the nicest looking arena indoors in the WAC. They were smart enough to build the arena with the structural strength and height to support a center scoreboard. SFA also has a very nice-looking arena as well.
My biggest knock on GCU Arena is the lack of a center scoreboard. GCU went up very quickly in its construction and it looks nice from the outside, but corners were cut in the design.

I have searched and so far, I haven’t found anything.

Bid just wrapped up a few weeks ago, arc renderings should start popping up after award is publically announced.

I've always admired CBU's arena. Hoping Tarleton's looks something like it. I think it hits the sweet spot considering size, features and functionality.

Tarleton's will be 168,000 sq ft., which is comparible to CBU's 153,000, yielding capacity of 7,500 vs. 5,000

I want it to still feel cozy and close to the action like Wisdom.

Center Hung Scoreboard (50,000 lbs. & retractable) is a definite.

Texan Club and Presidential Suites.

3,000 sqft mens locker room & lounge

New weight room

The laundry list of features is very long. If we manage to fit everything in, it's gonna be something special. I'll read through the bid and post some others that stand out.

On another note: $4mil Field House Renovations Phase II bid today 04-cheers

RE: Basketball Facility Updates
I was finally able to get in and walk around ACU's new Moody Coliseum/Anthony Arena while getting my season tickets/seats. It really is nice. It has a great intimate atmosphere, while still being large enough. The center court video boards are big and it has multiple other video boards around. It has a great club level for us club members and the seats are very comfortable. They still have a lot of finishing work to do, but when that is done, it will be even nicer. I think, in the end, Tarleton's will probably end up a little nicer, but I really like what we were able to do with re-utilizing our old building. I really hope we get good crowds for the home games.
