Hopefully Wes rights the ship, has a successful season and gets things going back in the right direction and starts bringing in better players. Over at X they just hauled in their second 4 star recruit and consensus Top 100 player for 2022.

I think we're all a bit impatient in regards to X, as they've had our number for a long time both on the court and in the recruiting rankings. I believe it will take 2-3 years minimum though before we start bringing in multiple 4-star players on a regular basis. Wes was smart to bring in some assistants who have high-major recruiting experience and connections, but we're still very late to the game in the 2022 class, and a lot of 2023 recruits have already established relationships with other staffs as well.

I won't be surprised if we continue to rely heavily on the transfer portal in the next two classes, with much better things to come in terms of high school recruits once Wes proves he can build a winning program at this level. I see our talent level being similar to Mick's NCAA teams for a few years, but I think Wes has a lot more potential due to his ability to sell the program to fans, recruits, and the media.

It's tough, but we'll probably have to exercise some patience while the recruiting machine is built over time. If we make the NCAA tournament in 2022, we'll be a year ahead of schedule, and we might pick up some big commitments for 2023. I'll be surprised if we sign multiple 4-stars in 2022, but if we do, I'll be extremely impressed and even more optimistic about the future than I am now.
