Founding Fathers (2021 TBT)
Hi everyone:

As many of you have probably already seen and we've seen some mention of it on these boards already. JMU will finally have an alumni basketball team competing in The Basketball Tournament. The players and staff (12 of which are former JMU players/students) are so excited to represent the purple and gold on a national stage again. With former players Devon Moore, AJ Davis, Ron Curry, Kamiah Smalls, Nikki Newman, Dimitrije Cabarkapa, Andre Nation, Scooter Renkin and Stuckey Mosley all a part of this team, it will be so fun seeing all these players back together! We hope this is a springboard for all these individuals to show what they're made of and get new and better professional deals all while repping again.

The impassioned JMU Nation was a big reason for our inclusion in The Tournament and we hope to keep that same passion leading up to when we compete and for the years that follow.

Our first game is on Sunday, July 18th at 5pm ET in Charleston, WV. We'd love to see many JMU faces in the stands if the trip is a possibility for you and yours. Otherwise the game will be streamed live on ESPN3.

You can also keep up with the team on Twitter and Instagram.

If you feel inclined, we are also running a fundraiser by selling our official sideline performance tee (with our SWEET logo) for $30/each. Funds from this sale will be used to provide meals, lodging, travel, etc. for the team. To learn more and/or place an order, you can check out this tweet here.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that has followed, supported, engaged whatever so far. This is JMU Basketball's team and we hope we can give you something JMU related to cheer for this summer. To that end, we're open to questions, comments, anything as we want this to be a collective effort and enjoyment.

See below from some links that tell more about who we are and what we're playing for! As always, Go Dukes!

I’m pretty excited to see Andre Nation on the same court as Ron and Devon. Hopefully they can pull off the upset in round 1.

The fact that AJ will be there makes this mean a whole lot more. I hope some jmu fans get out there and show some love.

The JMU Sports NEWS podcast had a 30-minute interview this week with Joe Kuykendall and Dimitrije Cabarkapa about the upcoming tournament. Since I know nothing about this tourney, I thought it was neat to hear a bit about it from the team organizers. Really cool opportunity for these former JMU athletes.

With the combination of:

1. The mbb team being good again,
2. The publicity jmu got from softball
3. Seeing Devon, Andre Nation, and Ron Curry together
4. The AJ Davis story

I am way too excited about this.

Good start... 6 point lead after 1st quarter.

Not looking like your standard 16 vs 1 matchup.

Stuckey Mosley drills a 3 to put the FF up 35-22 with 5 left in the 2nd quarter.

RE: Founding Fathers (2021 TBT)
Good 1st half.

What is glaring is that with Devon back as floor general, this team is more cohesive than at least 6 of the last 10 actual mbb teams. You can argue that the NCAA team, Curry's jr and sr years, and last year's team played well together, but this tam is doing without much practice.

Hope they can get a bit more breathing room before the Elam ending. I've never watched this tournament before and wasn't at all familiar with the ending but I love the idea.

RE: Founding Fathers (2021 TBT)
Sideline Cancer taking the lead as the 3rd winds down.

Free throw shooting seems to be a glaring weakness for us, which if I remember correctly, was a issue with many of these players when they were at JMU too.

Yeah free throws have been a major problem. Able to cut the lead down a bit before the Elam Ending, first to 79!

With a chance to win, we have a horrendous turnover and bad transition defense, SC wins
