Exclamation Tiger Football - when does Fall practice begin? scrimmages scheduled?
So, it’s July. It’s time to get excited about Tiger football. I’ve been searching for details on when our squad starts practice and when there will be scrimmages open for fans. Are we having a scrimmage at Lambuth in Jackson this year?

So far, I have had no luck finding any info. Surely somebody knows these answers. If you do, please share.

I would not be surprised if they ended the practices/scrimmage in Lambuth this year.

Just seems like an unnecessary expense - especially with the brand spanking new (air conditioned) practice facility

Spending time in Jackson is part of spreading the brand and giving players a different look. Helps them focus during the awful month of August practice.

Yeah, I was living in Nashville when Norvell started to focus on the area for recruiting. Part of this was an annual scrimmage in the area. It was great publicity, as it was the first time the local news actually showed video footage of the Tigers. I think it was a significant part of what led to getting some good recruits out of middle TN.

Jackson is a bit different, as we are already in the news there and there are fewer recruits to be had. But it is good for marketing west TN for support and ticket sales. And a good outreach for that campus.

I would like for the Tigers to spend a few days in Dyersburg, Jackson , and Savannah each year. Take a week and make a big deal in all of these cities. Good for the brand and good for attendance. Maybe take the week of spring break to hold spring practice at a city we can make a Tiger town.

02-13-banana My wife is from Dyersburg and most of her family still lives there. Cousins, etc. but they are all Vol fans. I enjoy when they come to visit or we go there to visit so that I can inflict some TIGER IRE on them. We have fun with it. My grandson ( a true blue tiger) just got a promotion and transferred to Jackson so there is one more Tiger fan that will be a local for a while.

We can have an impact on West Tennessee. Covington and Tipton County were once Orange country. Over the last 20 or 30 years, that has shifted. Younger people are more likely to be Tiger fans than Vol fans. I was working out the other day, and a retired guy told me that he was pretty much fed up with UT football, and was planning to attend several Tiger games instead. With the lack of pigskin success up on the hill recently, Tiger football is making inroads.

Yep. The Tigers need to keep coming to Nashville. Especially with UT being down.

There are recruits in the area they mostly go to SEC schools. We need to change that.

We are already changing that. This link shows the top recruits in Tennessee in last year's 2021 football recruiting class.

https://247sports.com/Season/2021-Footba.../?State=TN

I just took a look at the top 30 recruits in the state. Here's how the totals looked by school (showing schools who signed at least two players):

Va. Tech 3
Virginia 3
Memphis 3
Clemson 2
Tenn 2
Ole Miss 2
Missouri 2

So, we are making a recruiting impact in this state. I was tickled to see that Memphis signed 3 of the top 21 players in Tennessee, getting more than UT, Auld Mess, or Missouri.

Edit to add - Memphis also signed two more from the group ranked 30 to 40 in the state - one from Brentwood, and one from Chattanooga.

i was born in dburg and lived in newbern, went to Dyer County. Yep you are right. The Dyer County Choctaws has school colors of orange and white, orange and white checkerboard endzone and used to run out to rocky top at least for football while i went to school there in late 80s. we ran out to Queen for basketball mostly while i was there. 04-rock
