Impact of NIL on Service Academies
Recruiting is hard enough as it is at Air Force, Navy, Army etc. Will NIL hurt or help the academies?

My thoughts are players have been going there for the academics and the careers but some of those same players might prefer to chase the NIL money rather than what the academies offer.

No impact.

People do not enter the military academies to make a few dollars from sports. They enter to become officers and serve the country. You need pretty much a 4.0 and 2100 SAT to get in, especially from suburban congressional districts, where the competition is fierce.

Remember, athletes at our military academies are not on scholarship. They, and the rest of the student body are already on DoD payroll and receive 35% of the base pay for a commissioned officer then expensed are taken out from that. Plus NIL does not apply due to they are public officers and cannot profit privately.

Correct. And good link for info.
Active duty servicemembers, including Midshipmen and Cadets, cannot endorse any products or services. Midshipmen also are not allowed to take a second job outside the Academy.

Will NIL hurt or help? Well it certainly won't help -- it's one more difference for recruits to consider. One could say that the bulk of recruiting competition is between the three Service Academies, but we ARE recruiting student-athletes with multiple other FBS offers.

Not going to have much affect at all. In fact the NIL is only going to affect a couple hundred kids with any sort of meaningful money.
