If Moussa could have pulled a 20 & 13 last year that would have likely seen us in the NCAA tournament vs the NIT.

Correct...

The comparison was between a Sophmore Cisse...But hey people tend to leave that out.

So more of the same.
Big numbers.
Then little numbers.

Frosh Duren>>>>>>>>Soph Cisse

Chet Holmgren...

2 points and 5 rebounds 23 minutes...

I have no idea what led to Cisses numbers...Didn't watch the game. But comparing his numbers on bad team really isn't going to cut it.

What is your deal with Duren? It’s not even close. Duren is better than Cisse in EVERY aspect. It’s not even close or up for debate. Hey I’m sure Moussa is a great kid. But he’s not in Duren’s class.

No matter the comparison, no matter the year, the game or the whatever, comparing Moussa to Duren is like comparing Tommy Lowery to Keith Lee.

There is truly no comparison. To say there is is, well, actually funny.

T-Tommy! The pride of Winona, MS

Possibly the nicest human to ever walk this planet.

I think his career high was 10 points. He gave me his wrist bands after the game. Still have them in a shoe box with John Gunn’s headband.

Defensively they are MOST similar - but not equal. Duren is better with his ability to guard in space. Did you see him taking on the opposing PG without fouling?

Offense is actually fairly important too. And that's a game changer.

I have no idea what you mean about Duren not being able to reach his potential. Stats wise possibly. But development? Come on.

Duren is ridiculously athletic and that gives him a huge advantage defensively. He has the ability to guard outside the paint area and shift to the paint quickly as a backline help defender. He did that several times yesterday blocking 2 shots from the help side.
On one of those plays he actually guarded their guard AND the bigger player in the paint basically at the same time.
He and Moussa have nearly identical measurables, but the intangibles are night and day in Durens favor.

On offense they are treating Duren like he has Cisse skills...

A lob guy...Someone you have to get it to in scoring position. Duren has the ability to get his own...He is not getting those opportunities. Give him a few catches on the low block...Let him work.

We’ll see what the pros think after this season. Any wagers on who’ll go higher in the draft… assuming Duren is eligible?
In my opinion, Moussa has no feel for the game. He’s athletic but he’s a robot. He takes crappy angles on defense but has had enough athletic ability to get by. If he’s pushed out from the rim be cannot score.

That is modern basketball, all play is guard driven. Giving the ball to a big man on the block to post up and go to work is pretty rare. You may have someone like Embid who gets the ball 15 feet from the basket, faces up and then backs his guy down but just tossing the ball to a big posted up and running your offense through that set is not done anymore. Teams do not want bigs posting up and clogging the lane.

I think Duren's role actually fits the offense perfectly and from a draft perspective it absolutely highlights his strengths. Explosive, rim rocking finisher. And he looks dominate playing that style. He can prove in private workouts after the season that he can post up and get his own.

Soph Cisse = Frosh Duren.
Duren will not develop at Memphis.

You seem to think development actually happens in games.
Even so, the tape says otherwise.

RE: Moussa Cisse Tweet
I'm not quite sure that I want to say that I think I prefer freshman Duren to senior Dorsey yet. I think I need to get through the Alabama and Tennessee games and see where he's at before I can say that. But he's already my favorite player on this team, and I really like a lot of the guys on this team.

And just to be clear: He's a significantly better basketball player in every phase of the game than Moussa Cisse (maybe they are comparable on defensive rebounds).
