This one is more relevant than the other one.

Not if he’s not on our roster. I wish him well but way too much time has been spent on this subject already.

I wouldn't be surprised if at some point since Mossa declared for NBA or transfer that Penny might have communicated that Memphis was moving on & that he couldn't come back.

Yep. Cisse is in no way desperate, but those advising him need cash and they need it quick.

Understand this is MBB related but statistically just over 1/3 of the 2000+ (MBB & FB) who have entered the transfer portal, are being picked up by a D1 program. So the grass is not always greener elsewhere.

What happens to the other 2/3? Do they effectively lose their scholarships, or do they just stay at the school they publicly scorned?

The article I read indicated most went FCS. Even indicated one previous 5* was headed to a community college. Many just found no home at all. Once they declare for the transfer portal they lose their scholarships. And that means if they aren't picked up, the free ride is over.

He is still on the U of M roster and that is the one that should count....although the U of M has been somewhat late on some of these roster postings.
Smartest thing Cisse could do is meet with Penny and Larry Brown. I would think the NBA scouts would have advised him to do this also.

It should look like this in the news...

Headline: "Penny signs former five star recruit from the transfer portal"
Story: "Today Penny offered Moussa Cisse his old scholarship back..."

Returning to school is definitely the right decision, and he probably already knew that would be the case. You can't blame him for putting himself out there and being evaluated. You would think, though, that his stock would be more likely to rise by playing in a system he knows instead of learning something new. Either way, I wish him well.

He should transfer if he doesn't believe the coaching at Memphis is improving the skills that he needs to improve.

This is about his development. If there are coaches out there that can better address his specific needs he should go work with them.
