Duke's Daniel Jones [2019 1st Round - 6th]
UCLA's Josh Rosen [2018 1st Round - 10th]
Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer [2017 2nd Round - 52nd]
Memphis's Paxton Lynch [2016 1st Round - 26th]

There are many examples where Rid compares favorably or better to high draft pick college QB's career-wise. And, I agree that WINNING is a huge intangible to go along with measurables. I honestly believe he can be a first round draft pick if he puts together a solid season. The NFL is a QB driven league and teams love to draft QB's. Whether or not Rid pans out in the NFL is another discussion but draft-wise the dude will have scouts' attention all season long.

I agree. He's a winner and that goes a long way especially to guys like Belichick. There's not a whole lot he can't do on the football field. No he doesn't throw it a mile like Joe Flacco but with a good scheme that doesn't really matter. He's got more zip on the ball than Brady has for the last decade and it hasn't slowed him down at all. Add in the fact that he can run and that there are no Trevor Lawrences in the draft this year and I think he can absolutely be a first rounder. His tape against IU and ND will be huge in determining how high he goes. Big wins there and he's a surefire first rounder.

His accuracy and ability to read defenses has been somewhat of an issue, at minimum. Those are my top two things when looking at a QB, but no one is paying for my opinion. Hopefully, he can minimize those issues and have a monster season. His leadership and ability to run are ++, as we already know.

I agree. Some of the downfield passing is cringeworthy. Bottom line though, he has been under center for one of the best three year runs in program history and seems to possess that "it" factor of leadership on the field and (I'm guessing) in the locker room too.

There is tremendous hype building around this coming season and all that conversation nationally about our Cincinnati Bearcats is certainly beneficial. But I think some underestimate the difficulty of winning in South Bend--and even in Bloomington. Those aren't the P5 brands that have struggled of late where UC won or dominated (UCLA, BC, VT, Purdue). An established blue blood and a fast rising B10 program at IU.

I'm trying to temper expectations personally and still hopeful this could be the best season ever for Ridder and Cincinnati. Truly, a win/win scenario.

There's no doubt he's been an average at best passer but his running and leadership have made him an all conference player. He's over 30 games played so we're probably never going to see a great passer. Lamar Jackson won the Heisman and Bill Polian suggested when he came out he should be a WR. Josh Allen was considered inaccurate coming out and was an MVP candidate last year. The game has changed enough where he'll be a first round pick with mediocre passing along with his running/size/intangibles.

I think he’ll have a banner season this year. He’s been a good CFB QB and this year I think he’ll be a great one. He’ll be drafted in the first round and unfortunately I think he’ll be a bust. I see a college player, not a pro player. He doesn’t have the arm and his reads are not pro level. I hope I’m wrong (about the NFL part).

That's my assessment as well. I remember when he was mocked to Pittsburgh earlier this year and there were people saying how much they'd hate that. Bengals fans should love the Steelers using a first round pick on Des.

I would hate that, but I am a Steelers fan. I want more of a thrower than a runner for the Steelers.

That said, I would LOVE to see Des have a good enough season to be a first round draft pick. That would be great for our Bearcats.

Mike Vick was the best QB I saw play live, if you broke his pocket, he made you pay

Great highlights. Ridder reminds me of Fran Tarkenton. He can run, but he loves to use the legs to buy time and then throw a TD.
