As of the 2017 season, the average yearly salary for an NFL player was around $2.7 million USD.
In comparison, the average salary for a CFL player in 2018 was approximately $96,857 CAN. Players in the CFL often need to hold second jobs in the offseason to supplement their income from playing football.
The highest paid player in the NFL as of 2019 is Russell Wilson; his contract offers an average annual salary of $35 million.
The highest paid player in the CFL is Jamaal Westerman. His contract offers an average annual salary of $109,000 which is just over $88,000 US dollars. This is quite a big discrepancy!
Not true at all. The highest salary is $600 USD with a dozen or so players making between $400,000 - $600,000.
Got those figures off an Internet web site and they were 2017 figures as best I can tell.

That's rough, because the July 2017 article I found claimed that the salaries weren't disclosed... so they had to guess.
https://oilersnation.com/2017/07/12/comp...ss-sports/
Quote:Highest paid player: CFL player salaries are not disclosed, however, multiple sources have reported that Ricky Ray and Henry Burris earned between $450,000-$500,000 in 2014. Because the CFL salary cap ($5.1M) has hardly moved since then, I can only assume that the league’s best quarterbacks make around $500,000 per year

– Dickenson said last weekend that second-year Roughrider QB Isaac Harker, by virtue of experience, has “a leg up on the competition” for the No. 2 spot behind Cody Fajardo.
However, Harker is not a mortal lock to reclaim the second-string job. CFL neophytes Mason Fine, Tom Flacco and Paxton Lynch have all had their moments.
The arm strength of Lynch, a first-round draft choice of the NFL’s Denver Broncos in 2016, has been noted. Flacco and Fine, both of whom throw the football with a nice touch, are smart and mobile.
“We’ve got Cody and then the rest,” Dickenson said. “That’s the best way for me to probably put it.”

Lynch won't end up in Saskatchewan. He is more or less auditioning for other teams that have shaky situations at quarterback.

Well to Penny's defense it is easier to increase a net worth with 3 zeros to four zeros than starting with 7 zeros.
Seriously,
those net worth lists are pretty worthless. They are WAGs in many cases based on very little info unless your information is all pubic. Penny's info is based what Nike pays him and little Tiger check thrown in and accounts for the salary he earned playing.
My net worth on a good day is around a million but I live in part of that and most of the rest is retirement. If you count my pension value to yield in the formula it would be double that. I'm worth a lot more to my wife if I die before I retire but I don't tell her that. I live on my salary which doesn't reflect a millionaire lifestyle.

These things are always guesses. Penny invested well and listened to advice along the way. He still gets Nike checks but is also part owner (silent partner) of more businesses than most will know about.

Anyone know his interest in King Cotton? Wonder how many football and basketball players will be talking rightly seasoned in the near future?

He has made the opening day roster and it looks like he is making a really good impression. Still no word on who will be #2, but it seems like he is acquitting himself well. If he is #3, he will probably have a good shot at getting a backup job somewhere else, or even compete for a starting job.
