Huntington - A potential 7-footer is visiting with the Marshall basketball program.

Jesse Oglesby, a 6-foot-10 and growing senior at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Lithonia, Ga., is on campus this weekend, his high school coach said.

"He has tremendous potential," said MLK coach Eric Mance. "He may grow some more. Next year he may be a 7-footer."

Marshall is in the recruiting hunt along with NCAA Division I schools such as Stetson, Mercer, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Jackson State, South Carolina State and Winthrop.

The early National Letter of Intent signing period begins Wednesday. Mance said about 10 schools want to sign Oglesby in the early period.

"He's going to make a decision after the Marshall visit," Mance said.

Marshall has verbal commitments from 5-9 Ryan Lamb of Mableton, Ga., 6-1 Joe Miles from Washington, D.C., and 6-6 Casey Wohlleb from Boca Raton, Fla.

Oglesby averaged about 5 points and 6 rebounds last season as a backup player for the Lions. He showed alot of improvement in an Atlanta-area summer league and will be a starting player this season, Mance said.

A scouting report on http://www.youthprepstar.com said, "Jesse's a good shot blocker and rebounder. ...Low major player. ...Needs to keep working."

He is an academis qualifier and will be a member of MLK's first graduating class.

I'm sure Coach Jirsa knows what type of player he wants. Maybe he just wants him for shot blocking/rebounding.

If he could do any rebounding, Tech and UGA would be after him.
