She sure does. And that's Wood's fault as well.

Nikki certainly has a problem at Mississippi State as well. She's losing several significant contributors. She's in the same position as DMJ right now in that they were handed strong teams that tanked this year. Maybe Nikki was the wrong hire for Mississippi State too. How long do you think they will put up with mediocre seasons though? Unlike Wood who appears satisfied with our mediocre men's basketball team. I hope that's not where our women's team is headed too. I'm not making the case for firing DMJ, but there are a lot of red flags early. She certainly deserves at least two more seasons to right the ship.

I expect that Nikki will get it going at MSU but it will take getting her players and culture in there over some years. Problem is that is a grinder of a league and will take everything she's got. This transfer portal has changed the game for every coach. Almost every coach loses roster stability from this. Will probably feel like shuffling and re-dealing cards on an annual basis.

I’m pretty sure coaches, schools and the NCAA will put a stop to the transfer protocol or at least slow it down. Hard to plan if you don’t know whether the kids who came to your school will honor their commitment past one year. It’s hard for fans to get excited about a team if you can’t identify with the players year to year. I’m all for allowing some movement, but this mass transferring seems to be getting out of hand at ODU and elsewhere. Schools, however, need to be alert to the possibility of something amiss in the program when so many kids leave (not suggesting there is here at ODU).

I think there is some merit to this, but times have changed and not only do the kids expect to play, and to play significant minutes; but the parents are enablers to this mindset. Used to be your parents told you to shut up, work hard, earn your playing time, and listen to the coach. Now the parents are in the stand yelling at the coach to play their kid or screaming at the coach because they pulled little johnny from the game. Heck kids today don't even have commitment to their high school teams, transferring high schools and reclassifying for playing time. And AAU Ball, is a joke, they jump ship and move from team to team because they are just a cog in the wheel to the reputation of AAU coaches. Complain about the NCAA taking advantage of players, I think AAU coaches may be worse, their whole rep is attached to who is on their team and who got offered by what school. We can complain about the portal, or that JJ yells at his player, but the river runs deep and the issue is not just JJ or just ODU.

@Raoul_000: Old Dominion WBB grad transfer Victoria Morris (5-8 SR guard, Cincinnati, OH) has announced her commitment to Rutgers; the Scarlet Knights earlier landed Oshlynn Brown (Ball State), Jailyn Mason (Arkansas), and Lasha Petree (Bradley)

She recruits like JJ...ton of guards, but I guess you need lots of smaller fast players when you prefer to play a pressing defense and a running offense.

I have no insight, but I am curious (as opposed to critical), Jackson is 6-3, had the talent to sign with an ACC school, yet averaged less then four points per game last year. Was it lack of playing time? Didn't get many shots when she did play? Injury? Hopefully playing in her home area will be a boost for her.

Could be a situation like the TE who transferred from Penn State football. They have an embarrassment of riches at that position there. Including the #55 overall pick last month.

Nancy unveiled another dream court today in Newport News with the help of Jay Harris and Coach Delisha. You gotta love what Nancy has done to help spread the love for hoops around the globe.

NIce article in today’s Pilot (6/24) about the women’s basketball team. Nothing new for those of us who keep up with the program, but it was a positive story at least. I’m encourage that there will be at least 2 locals on the team.
