I have to go to West Memphis one day next week. My client said I need to go really early but had a friend say it doesn't matter when you go, it's always an hour to hour and half wait.

Anyone know? I mean obviously 8am or 5pm wouldn't be a good time, but if I did go at 5am would there be less traffic than 10am?

Yes. The longer wait is getting back over the bridge to Memphis.

It took a buddy of mine 5 hours to get over to Arky recently. He took Dyersburg bridge coming back.

We drove into Mempho on Memorial Day weekend. Friday night at 11pm, it took us nearly an hour to get thru West Memphis, across the bridge (eastbound).

Left on Tuesday morning at 9am and breezed across in no time, heading back toward Okieville (westbound).

I thought about taking a different bridge. However the problem is if you are going across the New (closed) bridge, I get off on the first exit once into Arkansas. So it wouldn't make since to drive to Helena or Dyersburg when my exit is only a half mile west of the bridge.

Guess I'll just grin and bear it. Thinking I can get away with charging the customer for that time anyways (maybe).

The overhead sign on Interstate 55 in MS warns, "I40 bridge closed in Memphis. Take alternate route."

It could say, "Take I55 bridge."

A relative of mine went across the bridge last Friday around 6:00 a.m. pretty quickly, but was told by 7:00 a.m. you will have a wait.

Coming back to Memphis on Sunday afternoon, there was a 4-hour wait to get on the bridge.

Take riverside and hit it during non-peak hours (8:30 or 9 in the AM). but going over on this side is nothing. The ARky side coming back is what takes forever.

Traffic to the races each weekend sees little to no delays.

Depending on how late things finish will affect the return trip.

GOOD NEWS All the plates are in place awaiting final installation and torquing.

Load test on Wednesday.

Depending on the results of the test it will be at least two more weeks.

They still will have to remove the temporary braces and torque all the connections.
