Aaron Wilkins had been the tight ends/co-special teams coach, which is still showing on the website.

Not sure what happened there.

Doesn’t show up here, probably should have caught that earlier. Also, his last tweet was December 2020.

"7" will probably just refer to him as "United States".

He’s from Indianapolis, so maybe we can call him “Indy”.

Then again, I enjoy pronouncing and spelling his name, which I do several times a day. Yes, I really have no life.

It's a real shame that NIU media relations is so swamped over the summer that they can't do a press release.

Chill.

It was reported yesterday by Football Scoop.
The site is popular as it is known for sharing football coaching news before schools formally make their announcement.
Hence the site’s name: Football Scoop.

Sorry to have the opinion that Huskie media relations should be the foremost authority regarding news on NIU athletes past and present. The idea that a website (not known to a majority of folks) can put together an announcement on a former Huskie athlete before the school's own media outlet is sad. Fact is the current operation doesn't show any energy or enthusiasm reporting on former athletes, something that didn't happen in the days when Korcek ran that office. Because of work colleagues I know who are friends with Korcek, his facebook posts are the best way to learn about Huskie grads. Two examples, E.C. Hill being named head women's basketball coach at Delaware State and men's basketball letterman John Costigan undergoing radiation treatment for neck cancer. Oh, and Korcek also ran the link on Onyebuagu.

I know that you have said you're not Korcek. But to ***** about the lack of a release about a new TE coach is petty. Nice that you managed to make it into a plug for your alter ego.

Sorry to disappoint you Sherlock, but I guarantee you that I am not Mike Korcek. However, as a media member who has had contact with that office back when he was in charge, and with the current operation, I can assure you there is a big difference. And please explain why expecting to see a release about a new TE coach is being petty? We're not talking about an Olympic sport coaching hire and it's not like there is so much to work on during the summer.

We had crowds back then. I’m sure we won’t see any recent pictures.

I'm not Mike Korcek, nor have I played him in the movies, but I'm speculating why an announcement hasn't been made. After a little cyber-sleuthing, I noticed that Coach O is getting married today. I also noticed his bio was removed from SE Missouri State's coach's page. Also, he hasn't posted on his own Twitter account since early June. On top of that, I haven't seen any other Tweets regarding his change in coaching status (i.e., none of our coaches have welcomed him, nor any former colleagues for that matter). So, I'm just guessing that the announcement will be made shortly after his wedding/honeymoon. As someone who has been in corporate communications for 30+ years, I wait until a new hire reports the first day until I make a corporate announcement. But, given the timing of the hire and the exciting things happening in his personal life, both Coach O and NIU felt it best to wait until he arrives on campus to make an announcement. That would probably be best personally and professionally. Of course, this is all my speculation and my humble opinion.

Exactly Ka-Ching.

My point was uiniu57’s post was an unwarranted and unnecessary slam towards an understaffed Athletic Department.

It’s not the ‘70s or ‘80s anymore. I also wish Mike Korcek was still around. I also wish McCabes happy hours with 25 cent beers was still around too! 04-cheers
