They need 4 teams and they should have already added them.

This will accelerate the move to a 16 team playoff. Interesting article, showing who would have been in a 12 team playoff from 2014 to now. I went over the list and this is how it breaks down by conference.

20 Big Ten
19 $EC
12 Big 12
12 ACC
11 PAC 12
5 AAC
3 Independent (Notre Dame)
1 Sun Belt

And for unimaginative individuals who think the majority of the P5 teams are competitive: how many of them have been invited to the four team exhibition? Yet they all share in the spoils while many other competitive programs are being starved.

With 12/16 team tournament more of the P5 will become more competitive and maybe one or two of them will break the strangle hold the the top 5 or 6 teams now hold on their college football conferences.

Once again I will state that when Florida had 3 division 1 football schools more often than not all 3 of them were in the top ten. Now that there are 8 or 9 d1 football colleges in Florida seldom is more than one of the first 3 in the top ten and the other schools are putting together competitive programs.

As long as just a few schools have the opportunity very few other schools will be able to break through. More opportunity begets greater competition and more entertaining football.

Or we can continue watching Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and a few other teams suck all of the money out of the sport and beget arguments that there just are not any other teams worthy of a chance. Give them a chance first and if after 5 or 6 years nothing changes you will have won your argument and we should probably just bow down and say we are not worthy.
I believe the Tigers are worthy and that given the opportunity can continue to improve at an even faster pace that has been the case over the past 10 years. GTG

Not competitive compared to what? The Sunbelt? CUSA? The MAC?

Quote:More opportunity begets greater competition and more entertaining football.

Yes, expect schools that are making anywhere from $250,000 - $500,000 on their TV contract to compete with schools making $25 - $50 million. Just wave the magic playoff wand and Akron is going to start hammering Alabama and Ohio State.

Nobody can help you. Seriously.

The CFP proposal on the table from the committee doe not hurt the current P5. Instead, it basically guarantees at least one more of their conference champs will be included. And it also gives them 6 at-large slots.

The most equitable system would have been 6 + 2, or 5 + 3, but I would imagine that the PAC12 and ACC would have been scared about only having 1 team and sometimes no teams make it.

Easily, the best outcome for us would be an 8 team playoff instead of a 12 team playoff. That would mean no byes for anyone.

It turns out, that all this time, all UMass and UTSA needed was a 24 team playoff to start beating Alabama and Ohio State. Talk about doubling down on clown. Try tying your ponytail a little bit looser. It might be cutting off the circulation to your brain. 03-lmfao01-wingedeagle

If they approve the proposal, the top 6 conference champs will be the 1-6 seeds. So the G5 champ will be one of the top 6 seeds. I believe at least 4 out of 5 years, the AAC champ will be that best-of-G5 champ. So we have a legit shot at a top 6 seed.

The 1-4 seeds get the byes, and 5-8 seeds get 1st round home games against 9-12 seeds. Now we know the top 4 seeds - the byes - will go to 4 of the P5 champs. So we're really playing for a 5-6 seed.

What that means is we actually will get a 1st round home game against a 11- or 12-seed. That's worth a lot in exposure, revenue - and winnability. Win that one, and we get the 3- or 4-seed on a "neutral" field.

Initially, I was for the 8 team format. But you know we would be the 8-seed in that format. Meaning we would get Bama, Clemson, Ohio State every year. Then when we lost, the script would be, "see, they really don't belong".

This way, we get a good draw with a home game. Yeah, we have an "extra game" to win a NC. But after looking this over, I see a lot of benefit.

In an 8 team tournament, with the top 6 conferences represented, we would have a decent shot at a 6 seed and sometimes even a 5 seed. As the 5 seed, there would be a massive drop off from Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson.

Regardless, we will have a much better shot at the playoff than fully 2/3 of the P5.

Yes, expect schools that are making anywhere from $250,000 - $500,000 on their TV contract to compete with schools making $25 - $50 million. Just wave the magic playoff wand and Akron is going to start hammering Alabama and Ohio State.

Nobody can help you. Seriously.

Ignorant, arrogant, and uncomprehending: you just hit the trifecta!

OOC
28-38 CUSA
22-33 MAC
27-23 Sun Belt

It turns out, that all this time, all UMass and UTSA needed was a 24 team playoff to start beating Alabama and Ohio State. Talk about doubling down on clown. Try tying your ponytail a little bit looser. It might be cutting off the circulation to your brain. 03-lmfao01-wingedeagle

Remove your head from your fundament and perhaps you can comprehend something that is more complex than defending the status quo.

And if you ask me, the B12(10) must expand to remain in over the long haul.
SEC 14
ACC 15
BIG10 14
PAC 12 12
BIG12 10

They need 4 teams and they should have already added them.

Aha! someone gets it. Most of the P5 doesn't have a snowballs chance of even making this 12 team tournament and yet they have all been sharing in the big payoff the BCS, NY6, and 4team Inv tournament has been generating. With a 12 team tournament at least one team from outside the monopoly will be in. Some years maybe two. Of course the P5 will still reap the vast majority of the riches generated, and competition will continue to be stifled. 16 teams will improve this and 24 will provide a true national champion.

IF your clown idea was put into practice, last year there would have been 3 unranked teams, 2 from the Sun Belt, 2 independents, 1 AAC team, and 1 PAC 12 team. The #2 teams from the AAC and PAC12 would have been left out.

Then there would be the stupidity of 2 teams potentially playing 18 games, 4 playing 17, 8 playing 16, and 16 playing 15 games. There are maybe a couple of clowns like you that compare it to basketball where you can play 9 games in 18 days.

Instead of coming up with clown ideas, maybe stick with something you're an expert on. A blog on man ponytails might be less embarrassing.

Since the voting in the top 25 is geared to SCREW the little guys like the LIL OLE MEMPHIS' and LIL OLE MIAMI OHIO'S of the world-----the MORE UNRANKED teams the BETTER. Only a so-called power 5 bootlicker would complain about less ranked teams.

The MORE games the better.
