RE: Monty back to MSU
Actually, MM going back to Michigan State kinda makes sense, probably his best move, with strong support from his mentor. He was in his prior stint a good assistant; nice guy, but NOT a good fit as HC at Northern. I question his skills as a recruiter, but at MSU the job will be a lot easier than at NIU. Best of luck to him and his family.

Well, his coaching stint at Detroit Mercy was a heck of a lot shorter than at NIU. Detroit Mercy is al the more better for his leaving for MSU.

Detroit Mercy did not secretly extend his contract?

No, they never learned the STF method of operating an athletics department.

Don’t let the facts get in the way of your vitriol. Detroit was one and seven before Monty joined them in January. They then won 11 of the last 14 games with MM very actively coaching with the same fire in games he showed on the NIU sideline.

Good guy. Had some recruiting excitement and some wins. He just didn't take us out of the dumps.

They also have a head coach who is, alone, making more than 4x the entire NIU coaching staff.

Probably even if you included the football staff as well.

RE: Monty back to MSU
Good for him, I think he's a very good assistant coach, just not the right dude for a head spot. That's OK.
