I say there's a decent chance that BU wins at least one of these next three games by fifty (50) points or more.

Enjoyed watching the Bellarmine game today. How many fans usually attend your games?

Sadly, more when they played at Knights Hall -- they'd usually pull in over 2K for a big game then. Biggest home crowd in recent memory was around 5K at Freedom Hall for an exhibition against Cincinnati a few seasons ago. There's a solid number of us hardcore Knights fans, but don't get me started about how lame this city's general sports fan base is.

Glad you got to see it, though. A couple more cupcakes coming up, but, among other things, I'm looking forward to the Miami (OH) and Loyola Marymount games (LMU is a home game, so hopefully something of a "recognizable name" opponent will bring in a few more people).

RE: 2021-22 Season
Announced crowd was 911 which is probably about right. Hard to get people to come see unrecognizable D3 and NAIA opponents. I sat there at a time out and tried to count heads in the stands and guessed 800 to 850 people. But you know if you count the cheerleaders, the dance squad and the band you can easily get to 900+. Had a talk before the game with an old die hard BU season ticket holder friend of mine (he's in his late 70's) and he says almost none of the "old gang" that used to sit near him at Knights Hall are not at any of the games. He also said there is no incentive to buy season tickets now since you can buy single game tickets and sit where ever you feel like sitting....no one is going to tell you to move to cheaper seats.

Also the parking was crazy at the Fairgrounds yesterday. That cheerleading competition in the South wing must have had 20,000 people there or more. I had to park way over by the amusement park and walk a quarter mile or more. I guess a cheerleading competition is a much bigger draw than Division I basketball. That has to hurt Scotty's pride. (I know, I know thats a catty remark!!)

RE: 2021-22 Season
Why could Thursday's game not be played at Knight's Hall? It would have been much more convenient and surely led to a better turn out than forcing people to hassle with downtown driving/parking. Now we get an even lower turnout in a huge arena all to say "ooh look we played at the yum center". Ugh. Just cannot understand why we refuse to play in Knights Hall

Ethan will miss the game at SD. Just when he seemed to regain form the flu bug hits

Shoot -- that stinks, for him and the squad. Hope he gets well soon.

I was about to say that I like BU's chances, assuming full health.

Interesting that Todd Lee is the head man out there.

In a word: "ugh."

Not meaning to disrespect USD, but I feel this game was one which BU could've won.

great first half for the Knights. Things started going downhill in second half and when the technical foul came at precisely the wrong time the downhill slide accelerated. My wife has noticed that it looks like an assistant coach or two seem assigned to stop Scotty from attacking referees and getting in their faces. I noticed when the technical happened last night CJ and another player went over to the bench to join an assistant coach trying to calm him down. The bottom fell out after that. Can't blame Scotty for the turnovers and poor shooting and poor defense in the second half but it would be good to have a calming influence when the wheels are coming off.

The other realization that is becoming apparent is that Curt Hopf is a good addition to the squad (I like what I see from him) but when conference play comes and it is a tight game in the last few minutes, the opposition is going to know who to put on the free throw line. 41.7% at the line is going hurt us.

Hopf does not look like he should be that bad at the line. I'll bet he shot better than that in high school.

I am not going to say that I hate to beat a dead horse, because I really like beating a dead horse, but with Claycomb and Thelan out, seemed to me that it would have been an opportunity to play Devault for about 30 minutes and see what happens. Also would like to see Baylor Yonker against a d1 team, I thought he looked good against the powder puff teams.

I love Scotty, but if things are going poorly, how about going deep on the bench instead of ranting and raving.

Along those lines, Dylan Penn is the only legit high D1 talent on the team, BUT... He is averaging 5 TO's a game against D1 teams. There was a time when Scotty would not put up with that. He used to pull anybody when they made a turnover or at least if they made 2 TO's. Dylan insists on dribbling in a crowd of people around the basket, he has got to stop doing it. Pull him from the game immediately when it happens.

This.

USD's defensive switch on Penn for the second half was a wise move by them.

Really nice comeback win! And without Claycomb to boot. Pfriem was on "pfire."

RE: 2021-22 Season
looks like Bellarmine and UK are putting together a 2 year deal to play starting this week (thanks to the UofL postponement due to covid)! Getting two 2 year deals done this past month with both UK and UofL is great for the program - looking forward to seeing the Knights play in Rupp!

RE: 2021-22 Season
Looks like I jumped the gun (along with the reporters). Bellarmine has already scheduled the maximum number of allowed games, so they would not be able to play UK unless they cancelled their game vs Bradley. Makes ya wish we left off one of the cupcake DIII games for flexibility, but no way to predict we could have this opportunity. Hopeful for games at Rupp in future years

Yeah, that generated a lot of buzz in a short amount of time. Too bad, but hopefully the two can play at some point.
