I can see why a young recruit would want to play for Penny. No BS, just straight talk and honesty. And as a parent, I would definitely feel comfortable with my son on his team.

Penny skipped “CoachSpeak 101” in school. He’s refreshing.

Per my recollection of the last couple months, the Allen Iverson Classic was after Moussa Cissa entered the transfer portal. It was interesting that his name was still on the locker, while there were obviously several lockers without names on them.

Ellis, Jeffries, Warren all signed with teams other than Memphis

These guys will definitely send recruits Penny's way. They may be on the bench one day.

Penny can relate & the kids can relate to him. Hope that translates well to life after BB since less than 2% of college BB players go on to play BB at the next level.

Good interview. But 7:47 was rough, especially since in his own words said he needed to switch to his Lion offense.

The next level not necessarily being the NBA.

And college basketball players includes DII and DIII...Maybe even NAIA and JUCO.

Wonder what the number is for DI basketball players...Still fairly low I would assume.
