USM wins, forces winner take all final today!
ODU loses, forced in to winner take all final today.

RE: NCAA Baseball Tournament
USM and ODU have the pitching to be fine for today's finales. One thing though that you have to question is why USM used Powell 6 innings in their 21-0 blowout over SE Missouri on Saturday. They didn't score in the 1st 2 innings but scored 4 in the T3 and 4 more in the T4. They probably should have pulled Powell at that point (he ended up throwing 81 pitches and coming out with a 20-0 lead). But he and Stanley both should be good for 3-4 innings today, and that might be all they need.

Was at that game. T1: 25 minutes, B1: 7 minutes...when I left Fair had given up 10 walks, 5 HBP's, but that was just the beginning...

UT freshman pitcher, Hanson (?), had great control and dominated Fair.

I just took a look out of curiosity at the Longhorns' current roster. Aside from the fact that they are largely a underclassman-laden team, I've never seen so many Freshmen and Sophomore redshirts; over two-thirds of their roster. Ridiculous.

I'm sure that's largely due to everyone getting a redshirt because of Covid

Virginia had 24 K’s against ODU. Impressive by any standard.

That's insane. Virginia had a reliever who pitched the final 5.2 innings, striking out 16 of the 17 outs he recorded.

Well if they had done what I suggested, maybe it would have been a better start for USM. But instead of starting Powell (G2 starter) or Stanley (G1 starter) - their two studs - they went to the #3 guy (Ethridge - a freshman who had struggled in his last three outings). And then they tried relieving him with their closer in the 2nd which makes even less sense.

They're down 9-2 to Ole Miss. It's not looking good for them.

ODU is having weather delays before their game begins.

It would be disappointing if no CUSA teams advance to Super Regionals.

USM clawing back-- they're now down only 10-7 in the 5th inning.

12-9 going to B8. USM has 3 outs left.

DBU has come back from a disastrously inept 0-5 start vs Oregon State to lead 8-5, now in B8.

Two outs in B8 vs Arkansas in Fayetteville, Nebraska picks a terrible time for a pitching meltdown.

Three walks, wild pitch plates a run ... and the next pitch is launched way over the LF wall. 6-2 Hogs.

"Heartache for the Huskers."

- - -

T9 Update: 4 up, 3 down ... Arkansas wins. Will host NC State in SR.

Not only two outs with nobody on for Arkansas in B8, but the pitcher had a 1-2 count on a guy who had already struck out 3 times tonight (and 8 times so far this weekend). The Nebraska coach made a brutal mistake in not yanking the pitcher on the 2nd walk (on four pitches), especially since he had a southpaw in the pen with the next two Arkansas batters being left-handed. Instead he waited until the pitcher went 2-0 on the next batter before making the pitching change. And it's not like the southpaw was not fully warmed up. He had been warming up since the beginning of the inning.

Just an awful coaching decision.
