Question Seahawks at summer baseball leagues thread
Looks like Brant at The Perch has us covered on the summer roundup! Usually I have to wait a bit on that info or try to research it myself. I'll post some updates in here from time to time and also include Brant's updates as well as any that may come in from uncwsports.com, Twitter, or other locations.

At least 16 Seahawks are assigned to summer leagues this year. The "headliner" is Ethan Chenault heading to the Cape Cod League. That's big for him coming off a great freshman year.

RE: Seahawks at summer baseball leagues thread
Taber Mongero kicked his summer campaign off nicely last night (Friday, June 4) for the Sharks.

Manning 2nd Base in his first game of the summer in an 11-0 road win over the Florence RedWolves, Taber went 2-2 with a walk, 2 RBI and a run scored. In the field he delivered 3 assists and no errors. Mongero is the only Seahawk in the summer leagues to have seen action so far, at least based on Brant's/The Perch's list of known summer participants thus far.

The NECBL season just got underway this week as well. The Valley Baseball League kicks off tonight (Saturday, June 5), the Greater Northeast League begins tomorrow, and the Tidewater League begins on Monday.

Lastly, the Cape Cod League season gets started for Ethan Chenault and the Wareham Gatemen on June 20th.

Mongero is exactly what you want on a team. Dependable hitter who isn't going to go down looking at a strike and solid in the field. He was clutch at the plate and in the filed this season.

Looks like UNCW has corrupted the Sharks. Apparently all Coastal Plain League games are on FloSports

The stats for Taber Mongero hadn't been loaded for his game on June 3rd yet (only the June 4th contest). Thru 2 games he's 2-3 with 2 RBI and 3 BB's. Meaning he's reached base in 5 of his first 6 plate appearances.

Trevor Marsh has also gotten off to a nice start with the wooden bats over the weekend, playing for Asheboro of the CPL. In a 20-2 win over High Point-Thomasville on Saturday, he went 2-3 with a double, an RBI, and a walk.

In the Valley Baseball League, sophomore lefty Noah Overton has made a pair of appearances over the last 2 nights. In 2 innings of work in relief, he hasn't allowed a run, given up 1 hit, struck out 2 and walked 2.

RE: Seahawks at summer baseball leagues thread
The hot hitting continues for Taber Mongero. On Sunday (6/13), he drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 9th, giving the Sharks an 8-7 win over Florence. Thru 4 games played, Taber is now 6-11 (.545) with a .667 OBP and 3 RBI.

Trevor Marsh is also impressing so far this summer. Marsh is batting 7-23 (.304) with 1 HR and 5 RBI for Asheboro. He's slugging .652 and has a .429 OBP.

Two of Marsh's teammates in Asheboro are doing well on the mound thus far, despite some control issues. Cole Benton has made 3 appearances and has allowed 1 ER in 4.0 innings (2.25 ERA), striking out 5 but also walking 5. Cody Benton has made 2 appearances, allowing 0 ER in 1.0 innings, striking out 2 but walking 3. Luke Craig has struggled out of the gates, however, with 3 ER and 5 H allowed in 2.0 innings (13.50 ERA) over his first 2 appearances.

Meanwhile, for Holly Springs, Chris Thorburn is 4-11 (.364) with 1 HR and 6 RBI. On the mound, Carter Holjes made his first appearance on June 11. In 2 innings of work, the righty didn't allow a run and only allowed 1 baserunner (1 H) while striking out 4.

Over in the VBL, Noah Overton, who didn't allow a run in his 1st three appearances for Charlottesville (the 3rd of which he served as an "opener), had his ERA blown up in his 4th, as he allowed 4 ER over 2.1 innings of work. He now has a 5.68 ERA with 7 K's and 8 BB's in 6.1 total innings of work.

Jack Howell, playing for the Covington Lumberjacks, opened his season batting 4-7 over his first 2 games, with a walk and a stolen base.

On Saturday (June 12), Jacob Shafer made his first start of the summer for the Winchester Royals. He lasted 4.0 innings and was highly effective, allowing 0 ER on 1 hit, striking out 3 and walking none.

Out of the NECBL, Dillon Lifreiri went 3-7 in his first 2 games for Danbury, with a double, an RBI and 2 SBs.

Upper Valley's Ron Evans is hitting 7-23 (.304) with 1 HR and 5 RBI. He has struck out 6 times, however, while walking once. Teammate Kevin Pitarra is hitting 2-8 with a walk.

Ethan Chenault and the Wareham Gatemen get their Cape Cod schedule started on Sunday, June 20th.
