BROADCAST SCHEDULE

There are plenty of field events being shown live on ESPN3, but unfortunately, the women's 10,000 meters is part of the ESPN2 telecast, which means there likely will be spotty coverage of the race.

Does a faster pace or a slower pace help Grace in your opinion?

I'm assuming the weather conditions are going to be great, as they usually are for distance runners.

I'm assuming the weather conditions are going to be great, as they usually are for distance runners.

The weather on Thursday at race time is supposed to be in the 60's and dry.

I don't think that the pace is relevant. Chelangat is the only runner who has the potential to crush everyone with pace, but she is going to want to save something for Saturday's 5K.

If it comes down to a 400 meter kick, no one has a chance against Chelangat. Someone will have to go early - maybe with a mile to go. I think Izzo or Wheeler could push the pace, but I don't Izzo will want to risk blowing up and losing out on team points for Arkansas. Wheeler is on Providence's team, so she might give it a go. Cardama-Baez of Oregon tried that at the West Regional, but it is clear that she just does not have the wheels.

I would expect Grace to be in the mix, but, as she is still a freshman for Outdoor Track and Field, those with more experience will be at an advantage. I do believe that she has a good shot for top 5, but one never knows about the 10K, particularly with only 2 weeks to recover.

A track and field note - longtime Arkansas track coach John McDonnell (1978 - 2008) passed away yesterday at the age of 82. He holds the record I believe for being the head coach for the most national championship teams (40).

I had a nice chat with him a couple of years back when the cross country regional was at Arkansas. He was always very friendly to me, and had some amazing stories. RIP.
