A great diverse schedule as an Indy
3 hour games
Players you followed for 4 years
Laying on the couch listening to the game with my Dad
Attending an occasional live game with my Dad
Outdoor game, 60-70 degree weather and an upset victory
Not learning crap in school that week before a big opponent or better yet a TV game

Things I hated:
A TV game maybe once a year
No replays of games if you missed a game on the radio
Sitting in crumbling Archbold Stadium on a raw, cold day
We never tailgated

Damn you must be old. I can't even remember Syracuse not playing at the Carrier Dome. I had to look up Archbold Stadium, never heard of it before. It did close after I was born so you're not that old.
I remember when Syracuse was a vagabond team, playing all over NYS while the Dome was being built.Back before every SU game was on TV, the smaller schools like Cornell, could get 13-20k a game and need both sides of bleachers.

I saw SU beat Washington St in 1979 at Buffalo Rich Stadium. It was pathetic to only have about 8000 fans there. Fortunately we travel much better today.

We heard about what players were studying, and they were ACTUAL majors.

There was no better college football game announcer than Keith Jackson. He was college football IMO.

Things have changed a lot even since the early 2010s when I was in school. College of Charleston changing conferences, the Bracketbuster games being a big deal, and teams and smaller conferences having local television deals.

College of Charleston had an OTA TV deal for several years (starting in 2011 through 2017), which made it very easy to follow the team even if you didn’t have cable. You could just flip on the local MyTV channel for home games and go on a online (usually free stream) for road games that weren’t televised. CSS had a broadcast deal to pick up those games, which meant if you were a Comcast or Charter subscriber anywhere from the MS River to NC you could watch CofC play.

My first year of college (2010-11) I think over 20 games were televised when you included ESPN, SportSouth, CSS, and a couple other channels. Last year 2 were broadcast on non Flo stream, only because we were playing UNC.

One thing I miss, regional networks actually having deals with conferences. SportSouth with the Southern Conference, Comcast SportsNet with the CAA among others. And you had announcers who knew the schools. Tom Werme started on SoCon games. Al Koken and John Feinstein among others on the CAA. SportSouth was how a lot of people got to know who Stephen Curry was because they broadcast a lot of his games.

I got season tickets for Louisville basketball in August of my freshman year to watch the defending NCAA National Champions during the ‘80-‘81 season for $25.00. 16 games for $25.00 just over $1.50 per game.

No. Just local and regional channels. The RSNs barely show any mid major games now.
