We have the data to support that already...0
The teams refused to upgrade that needed to. Most schools just pocketed the money, UNCW included (I do believe).
Saw very few schools using that money to upgrade equipment/production or put games on regionally, like they were supposed to.

Thats not to point fingers btw. It is another point of lack of leadership. A leader would take this deal and make it known the expectations and requirements of such a deal and would enforce it, not just distribute it and say "good luck"

Oh I have no doubt UNCW probably just pocketed it and pushed it into various athletics funding that we already struggle to fund and keep up with. It's no secret to everyone around here, and it's clear because we ALWAYS discuss how one of our best programs (baseball, although struggling this year) isn't even a fully funded program. They're consistently one of our best shots for national exposure. It's telling about the priorities of our Athletic Dept's priorities and vision.
Hell, put all that money to branding us as "UNCW" to the media and I'd be happier than what I've seen so far.

Something I recently saw is that the number of baseball scholarships may have something to do with title IX. Clemson baseball only has 11.7 scholarships. And fans are saying it has to do with numbers attributed to title IX.
But what has been detrimental to our funding goes back to the UNC system keeping us under their thumb for many years, only allowing us a few Masters and Doctors programs. They hindered our academic growth. And there is where schools get a good chunk of donations coming back from those who have graduated here. ECU was able to grow into those programs with help from friends in the state legislature.

The CAA did not distribute ANY money from the Flo deal. It was used to “buy” a few more games on cbssports. This topic has been discussed in depth on the JMU board as our AD openly said the deal was trash and we wanted no part of it.
So no, no Flo $$$ goes to schools to support linear tv deals. In fact, no Flo $$$ goes to CAA schools at all.

Yup
We put every CAA home basketball game and Olympic sport conference championship behind a paywall so we could have funds to put 11 games on a channel that is generally on an extra addon/higher level cable tier
I'm guessing this year we pocketed some money though since we didn't have any games on CBSSN

Well. Other than all that, Mrs. Lincoln...how was the play?
Don't worry guys, we're just a Stony Brook and High Point away from the CAA being great!
You'll see!

It wouldn't surprise me if W&M's former AD was in favor of it. W&M is still digging out from the financial difficulties she helped cause.
The CAA was a great league 10 years ago.
It was still a very solid league even 5 years ago.
Hard to believe that it has been almost 3 years since the Hawks and Tribe were having basketball success(much more of course for the Hawks).
I am not sure that there are not more issues right now with CAA Football than basketball. I guess we will see this fall.
Still no FLO subscription for me. Haven't missed it one bit.

RE: The CAA schools hate each other - Article
The biggest mistake Yeager ever made was worrying about FCS football.
He should have focused on his bread and butter of basketball.
It cost us Richmond when the SoCon merger blewup due to the A10 swooping in
It cost us ODU as they quickly jumped to FBS after starting a program, which you could say helped cost us VCU and GMU.
It led the CAA to add teams in NY and Boston that both dropped the sport once they were in the CAA which kept Davidson's interest at a minimum.
Had the CAA focused on basketball after ECU and American left we could have had a league like this:
GMU
JMU
Richmond
VCU
ODU
William and Mary
Davidson
UNCG
UNCW
Charleston

Big Sky got a deal that would be perfect for the CAA
https://bigskyconf.com/news/2021/6/9/gen...-espn.aspx
https://gogriz.com/news/2021/6/9/footbal...-espn.aspx
Big Sky moving their content from Pluto to ESPN+
ESPNU will televise two football games each year, in addition to one regular-season men's basketball game. The championship games for the Big Sky men's and women's basketball tournaments will also be shown on ESPN networks, marking the first time the Big Sky women's basketball championship game will be broadcast on ESPN linear TV.
Big Sky media rights partner ROOT Sports will also continue to broadcast conference football games, putting the league's contests inside millions of homes nationwide.
