RE: West Virginia vs. UAB at Legacy Arena on December 18th.
Unfortunately this is what it’ll take to get these games in Birmingham, I just personally want to see Bartow arena sold out one more time in my lifetime.

Not sure why this would be at Legacy Arena.
I think it would sellout Bartow but not so sure a Legacy Arena sell out unless it is the first event post-renovation.
I totally understand UAB vs. Auburn games at Legacy Arena because they are large local teams, but can't see WVU game selling out at Legacy - or I could be wrong.
Just was hoping this would be a Bartow game - hopefully the other P5 games will be.
RE: West Virginia vs. UAB at Legacy Arena on December 18th.
We get a perennial top 25 team in Birmingham on the schedule. Is Legacy too big? Sure. Is it better than playing northeastern western southwest college at Bartow? By a wide margin. If we want any chance of an at large bid in the future, these are the games we need on the schedule, regardless of where they are played.
RE: West Virginia vs. UAB at Legacy Arena on December 18th.
Understood. In a perfect world that would be what’s happening. But if the options are:
A) Host WVU at Legacy
B) Don’t have WVU on the schedule
Which one are you taking?
If Kennedy can build this program up at the rate he did in one pandemic off-season, we will be in a strong position to dictate terms to other schools. Right now, we are just a kind of decent CUSA team that hasn’t won consistently in quite some time.

In a much different era, 30-40 years ago, with folks knowing he’s coming from that present time top basketball school in the country.
If we can get recruits to those games, good, and forget about that issue. At least playing an out of state team there, we aren’t being outnumbered 70-30.
RE: West Virginia vs. UAB at Legacy Arena on December 18th.
Of course we’d rather play them at bartow, but I have no issue with getting a big time program to play us at legacy either... I’ll take games like this every year over the crap home schedule we’ve been subjected to over the past decade any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Agreed. Just make sure it is included in the season ticket package.

Those who have actually played competitive basketball for a school may know -- What elements make a venue a "Home Court" rather than just another "away game" experience? I would think that playing only one or two games at a venue during a player's career is not enough. When we play West VA at Legacy Arena, we should have the team feel "at home" for that game. There should be a different feel than say Bama playing USC at Jerry World in Texas.

I believe that fans create the home court advantage. I have seen it in action at Bartow several times and a few times at the BJCC. Loud and frenzied fans can make any venue a home court in my humble opinion.

I don't think either of these would be a sell-out.

Are you serious? Why on earth would you think Bartow wouldn’t be a sell out? BJCC will be damn near one if not a sell out

I don't necessarily agree with him--but I do understand. Do you know how long it's been since we have sold out Bartow? Or even been close? Yeah, we haven't played an opponent like West Virginia in a while, but when we did, we didn't fill the building. And we still have no idea how the effects of covid-fear are going to affect attendance in the year ahead. Some people probably won't come out of their bunker for another couple of years.
I know that the previous seasons under Ehsan almost killed us, attendance wise, and it may take a while still for us to gain back that fan base. I hope the excitement from last season--which we didn't get a chance to see in the stands because of the limits to season tickets only--carries over for ticket-buying this year. But until I see it, I would have a hard time thinking we are automatically going to sell out anything.
