Holt's back as an assistant, Flemming is stepping in as DOBO. Can't say either move is a surprise. Good to have them back.

Could be. Garcia is from Harlem and Sendy has a lot of recruiting success in NY.
Between Johnson, Carry, and Garcia we've added 191 games of D1 experience to this roster. On paper, looks to be a lot of interchangeable pieces that would fit the 'positionless basketball' strategy well

Looks like the final scholarship goes from Akeem Odusipe. A 6'9" 230lb center that played in 11 games at Vanderbilt last year. I believe that means he'll have 4 years of eligibility left. Seems like a great job or retooling through a difficult off season by our coaches.
This is per verbal commits, not sure what their source is but i haven't seen it anywhere else yet. His highschool highlights on verbal commits are pretty darn impressive.

Interesting pickup (although much needed). Senderoff generally seems to like his post guys a lot more skilled than this guy sees to be. On the other hand, this guy seems much more athletic than the JHall, JGreene, GO'Neal types. If this guy can rebound like JHall, JGreene that's a foundation to build on.
Also will be an interesting contrast/battle with the incoming freshman post guy, who does seem to be more skilled, but less athletic.
Overall, an interesting roster. Last year RS retooled with a lot of juco perimeter shooting guys, who mostly did not pan out. Now mostly baseline guys with Garcia as a mis-match 4-man, Johnson an athlete with some perimeter skills and Akeem as a power guy.
Let's see what it looks like in November.

RE: Basketball 21-22
Agreed he's not as skilled as Hall/Greene right now but remember he would be a true sophomore this year. Usually bigs like this have to spend more time proving they're not high major material before they end up at Kent. Also, don't forget all freshman should be graded on a curve for last year because of the fact that they didn't get a normal summer to help get up to speed.
So our "freshman class" will be Odusipe, VCD, Sullinger, Rollins, and Hornbeak. I know there's a near 0% chance they all use all 4 years here, but on paper that's a pretty exciting group.

Probably near 0% anti-zip. 10%, at best. This going to be annual event, the massive roster upheaval. It sort of was already. While everybody was allowed to return, only 6 have.

It's not a big deal, of course, but it would be nice if they would update their roster on their webpage more often. They haven't removed a name since Bennett, and haven't added a name since Carry.

Probably laid off the underpaid staffer that hires the free interns that handle such duties...

I'm guessing this means Kent will be playing two or three 'pay' games instead of one or two, which makes that a win-win-win in my eyes.
Senderoff gets the biggest payday of the bunch, Kent athletic department still gets its usual $$$ share and program gets an extra chance to pull a non-conference 'upset.'
Not a bad deal.

RE: Basketball 21-22
There seems to be more positive vibes around this team than we've had for a few years. On paper this has to be our most experienced and talented roster in a while. We'll have 2 guys that were at least rotation players in the A10 (Johnson and Carry), one in the Atlantic (Hamilton), one from the Mountain West (Beck), one from the SEC (Garcia), and another non rotation player from the SEC (Odusipe).
I think it's safe to say that the loosening of transfer rules over the past few years has worked to our advantage so far. I feel like we have a coach that is very capable of adjusting to the new world and finding ways to make turn it into a positive for us.

Not to be a Debbie-downer but a 'rotational' player in all those conferences still equate to a MAC player at Kent. Rather have them than not, but while Beck and JHam in particular are vgood pieces, neither looks to be a 1st or 2nd team All-MAC player.
We'll see how the rest turn out.
The one clear POSITIVE is this team should have some experienced and talented depth that most MAC teams will clearly lack. If there is a home run player (Nuga???) in the bunch then Kent jumps from being a solid MAC threat to a true top contender.
Let's not forget, other MAC teams have been bringing in transfers, too.

If you notice I said they were "at least rotation players" at their previous school. I don't think anyone would consider Carry just a rotation player and Garcia and Beck have both proven to be capable of being pretty good mid major players.
As for the rest, every year we have several transfers in (usually from JUCOs) and on paper we think they seem like guys who could crack the rotation. Then every year one or two don't. The point I'm making is this year we won't have the same question marks about who belongs at the D1 level, because not of the team has already proven they do.

I think we're saying basically the same thing ... just different ways.
