How do you know who was ignored?

We haven’t been linked to heavily recruiting a black QB in damn near a decade, especially not in this era. Can probably go back to Taz Wilson who was signed by McGee in Nov ‘13. Then we haven’t been linked to any instate QBs since spring 2016.

We haven't been "linked to" or a serious option for any top local QBs - regardless of race. This year, in addition to Harrell, Zach Pyron (Pinson Valley) is committed to Baylor and Khalib Johnson (Clay-Chalkville) is committed to Louisville. Last year, Will Crowder (Gardendale) signed with West Virginia. Others in recent years: Zach Thomas (Hewitt-Trussville) - App State, Quad Brown (Calera) - Georgia State, Hayden Moore (Clay-Chalkville) - Cincinnati.

Race is not the answer to every question.

RE: EMCC QB commits to UAB
UAB got a commitment from the state's Mr Football in 2015, signed him in 2016 and he will be the starter still in 2021 -- with another year to play still if he wants it. He'll practically be a Ph.D by then. The notion that UAB didn't recruit some of these players at all is downright stupid, but you can't make them sign where they don't want to play and it's not smart recruiting to waste time on people who don't want to come.

Perhaps you missed the part where I said we weren’t linked to any instate qbs since 2016. Point still stands, as you’ve listed. For those of us who have paid attention to recruiting from every corner for the last 15-20 years, knows this to be true. Add Tyrell Pygrome, Devlin Hodges, Zyquez Perryman, and TD Marshall to that list.

Ok, and both happen to be true and Black QB was relevant due to the commitment which came as a surprise and the presumption that all coaches like to shove them to skill positions instead of giving them a shot in camp. Even McGee wanted to play Austin Brown to the point he was carried out in a body bag over playing Perry who was the better QB.

Our quarterback position is currently pretty crowded. I believe that top local talent will lean towards sitting a couple of seasons at a P5 program over sitting a couple of seasons at UAB. I imagine that the offensive scheme also factors in a qb’s recruitment.
